Bactrim, breastfeeding, asthma

by Marti406, Oct 20, 2009 01:40PM
I was prescribed Bactrim for 10 days for a UTI.  My doctor told me it was safe while breastfeeding.  I developed a severe rash by day 9, and my nursing child, at the same time, developed for the first time severe asthma.  I have not been taking the drug for nearly 3 weeks and the asthma continues to worsen and I have been experiencing headaches ever since.

Hi,
How are you and your baby? If you still experience your symptoms despite discontinuing the drug, inform your doctor about this for proper management. Cold compress and over-the-counter pain medications may help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
