Best practices to prevent catching colds/flu/etc while flying?

by 222fbj, Mar 17, 2007 12:00AM
I am now recovering from the worst flu I can remember ever having.  I am sure I got it from the passenger behind me during some recent air travel.  I know air travel is going to be somewhat risky since there are so many people in a closed space.  But what can I do to protect myself next time?  I plan to start getting flu shots.

Would a mask of some sort help?
Should I take some vitamins before/after travelling?
Anything else?

Thanks

Keep hydrated drinking water &  take plenty of vitamins, a family member of mine flies a lot... she swears by "Airborne" and "Emergen-C" both are sold over the counter...I swear by a product called "Cell Power" but, that's more homeopathic...

Also, always wash your hands and keep your hands away from your face...
