Cedar pollen allergies - does it affect cedar in fragrances?

Would somebody with a cedar pollen allergy likely be sensitive to cologne that lists cedarwood as one of its notes?  I ask because I lived in an area with a heavy cedar pollen season, and I suffered greatly every year (seemed to get worse each year).  I no longer live in that area and don't get seasonal allergies now, but I once sanded a cedar block and was sneezing with bad nasal irritation within minutes.   I've recently become interested in fragrances, but a few have given me a reaction (sneezing, nasal irritation, and watery eyes).  I'm wondering if the cedarwood note used in many men's colognes would be a likely culprit.

Do allergists have tests for fragrance allergies?

There could be an allergic reaction to cedar wood fragrance if you have documented allergies to them. You could also be allergic to some other unknown substance.

You should try some steam inhalation, saline nasal drops, oral antihistamine medications and see if it helps with your symptoms.

If your symptoms still persist, consult an allergy specialist about whether a course of steroid medications would help in your case
