Chronic dizziness, esp. around animals

by healthbug, Nov 04, 2009 12:45PM
I have been diagnosed with endolymphatic hydrops, which is an inner-ear disorder and (I believe) a precursor condition for Meniere's. I get rotary vertigo when I'm exposed, up close and personal, to furry animals, such as cats. No doctor has ever said this is medically possible, but believe me, it happens!! I empathize with the many people on this post who have dizziness and can't find a solution. My advice to sufferers who've hit a diagnostic dead end: ID your triggers and avoid them. These can involve 1st- or 2nd-hand ciggie smoke; too much standing and turning; too much caffeine; too much alcohol. If you get an upper-respiratory infection, you may be more sensitive. (I am.) Try over-the-counter meds, such as Sudafed -- tho it may increase dizziness. Some antihistamines might work, although in my case no meds do except occasionally diazepam (Valium/Vivol), and avoiding contact with animals. This is all I can offer. If anyone out there has advice for ME, I'd welcome it. Good luck all.
