Cipro

I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face.
I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.

Hey guys I am a bit worried. I thought I had something else and my doctor found that I had a UTI he perscribed Cipro 500mg twice a day for a week. I seem to be going through some bad reactions. I even thought I had HIV. Skin burrning , itching skin, abnormal amount of acne all over the body. I have recently developed photosensitivity. I was out side next day my face developed a rash. Again I thought i had something else never thought of the cipro. Its been 2 months all of my tests are negative and the only thing i have done different is the cipro. You think this will go away in month or so. My DR. now has given me allegra 180 mg 1 daily its seems to help some but hasnt gone away completly. any thoughts? Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

It looks like you had an allergic reaction to ciprofloxacin. The amount of time for an allergy to last depends on the amount of time for the allergan to get processed by your immune system and the condition of your immune system at the time of allergic reaction.

Pls take some over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin. This will help in reducing the flushing and itching if any.If symptoms become severe, then oral steroids may be needed. They are available only on prescription.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
