Claritin D

by amw4013, Apr 26, 2007 12:00AM
I suffer from allergies, especially this time of year.  I have found that the medication that helps me the most is Claritin D.  I know that this contains pseudoephedrine and am wondering if this is safe to take on a daily basis.  I usually by the 12 hour instead of the 24 hour and take once a day.  Thanks for any help!

Fear not... unless you're extremely sensitive to pseudoephedrine there should be no problem with daily use of Claritin-D.  I used to take it every day during allergy season (which for me lasts from April until October or so) for several years up until I started getting allergy shots a year ago, and that was the 24-hour variety... so I can't see any reason why you couldn't do the same.

The one concern would be that the pseudo would raise your blood pressure. Just be aware of that factor... I use Astelin or Benedryl to control my allergies which do not raise the blood pressure. Best of Luck!
