Class action lawsuit - victoria secret bras

Can anyone tell me about how to join this lawsuit!  I have suffered with these rashes for years and no doctor could ever give me a reason.  No one told me to check my Victoria Secret Bra!!  I won't wear them anymore - it is terrible to have to go through this 3-4 times a year with no reason as to why it happens!

Me too!  I was told by a psychcic that my rashes all over my chest were due to the bras, so I purchased non wire/cotton bras and they went away.  I had no idea it would be from chemicals.  I'm a totally organic person (when I can afford it), but I have not seen many organic bras out there with no wire.  The wires are bad for us too, they affect our lymph nodes in the axilary area and chest and can lead to breast cancer (I'm no doctor, but this is what I have read).  How can I join the lawsuit?

i have had problems with my secret embrace bra, getting red itchy splotches on my chest. Is that where the rash stayed ? or did your rash spread? i at one point was diagnosed with shingles but im wondering if it was this instead? Its interesting to find so many other people reacting to the bra, i thought it was just maybe my clothing or a fluke, but everytime i wash it, it still happens...

I had to stop buying Victoria Secret bras and I loved them. Every time I would buy one, a week later the wire would pop out and stab me. I have scars on my chest now and cannot get them to go away. I have tried everything. When my gyno gives me a breast exam, she always shakes her head when she sees them and says, "I cannot believe that".

How do I go about joining this lawsuit? My chest has been broke out in red, extremely itchy rashes for months now. It is now spreading down my stomach and my arms, but mainly it is in my chest and right along where the wire is. Can anybody help me?

And me too! For years now I have been given all sorts of powders and creams for my rashy, whelpy, itchy skin in my chest area. Never told the cause, just given more meds. I never thought it could be my Victoria Secret bras causing this until I heard a story on Good Morning America. Most of my bras are Victoria Secret; I have purchased them there for years. I wonder if these bras have been the cause of other problems I've been having. I, too am willing to joining the lawsuit. How can I join?

Im wondering if it only happens to certain bras by VS cause i have always wore Angel bras an I had such a bad rash it looked like rug burn under my breasts. All the time i was trying everyhing to get rid of it I would take 3 showers a day. Then my gyno told me to go bra less right im a 38 DD how much fun is that we have 2 boys ages 18 an 24.An they have friends so i went on a journy to find a bra an i think i found one hannes it has a realy soft under wire an the  cups are perfect there is one problem they ride up.If they could just make one with out it ride up problems it would be perfect.I also tryed a called bra a la alljuiaThis bra also did not work also i have ben sized an every thing so i dont no i guess im kind of stuck with a all the problems of a bra that either gives me a rash or has a ride up problem i have to pick one of the 2 evils.I would rather have one that rides up.  I would not like to join the lawsuit put please keep me up to date on what is going on. An if you have any ideas on bras that dont ride up. Thank you

Oh my GOSH!  I have had rashes from these bras too.  I thought it was a personal issue.  I threw out my bras and started buying them from other department stores.  I just saw the information on TV and I want in on the lawsuit.  I have spent a fortune on their Bras.  What a waste of money to have to throw them out.  Rashes and blisters??  Couldn't wear a bra for weeks on end and anything I put on caused pain.  Thanks for the information

Wow!   I can't believe I stumbled on this information.  I have been going crazy for the past 6 months trying to figure out why my breasts have had a rash, they are constantly itchy and blotchy.  I just figureed it was dry skin, new detergent, cream...trying everything, but nothing worked.  How horrifying to find out there may be formaldehyde in the bras.  I've never been part of a class action lawsuit, but I will definitely participate in this one if it comes to fruition....VS needs to be responsible for their product!

This is unbelievable! I have had a series of horrible rashes and even minimal scarring from the intense itching around my breast/chest area.  I thought I had some sort of disease--and now to find out that it could be from my VS bras is very upsetting and scary!  What lasting effects might this have on me--could it lead to potential Cancer? I'm very concerned and will stop wearing my VS bras immediately, but I will not throw them away.  They may be needed for testing/evidence in the future.  I don't know what to do next, but I think I will put in an official complaint to Victoria Secret so it is at least on record.  I can't believe they are continuing to sell them while the investigation is going on!  How many more unknowing women might fall victim to these bras?!!

I too have had severely itchy breasts....for a while i thought i had breast cancer...i have spoken to three or four different gynos and none of them had an answer that all just said to use hydrocortisone cream...it helped to stop the itching but it would come back the second i stopped using it...i would wake up scratching in the middle of the night and i would scratch so hard i would bleed.  Im upset to hear that it could be VS i have been a customer with them for over five years...every single one of my bras and panties are made from them...i have spent so much money on these bras!!!!  Also, these bras are the only ones that have ever given me the support i need!  I dont know what to do!!!!!

I had this problem too. My breasts were really itchy and I took my bra off and my husband actually noticed the welts before me. I looked down and was actually horrified at how bad it looked. I stopped wearing that bra and it cleared up. But I love the support that these bras give, but when i wear it, its extremely itchy and it burns really bad.
How do you get involved in this? Even if I dont get compensation I would like to at least help out whoever needs it.
This is scary, is this happening with the underwear too?

Thank goodness for GMA and the fact that my hubby was listening.  I have been wearing VS bras for over 10 years with no trouble until about 1 1/2 years ago.  I thought that something was really wrong with me.  After many tubes of Benedryl and Lotrimin, I still want to just claw and scratch until the itching stops.  I am saving the 10 VS bras that I have if anyone wants to test them.  I am really mad a VS.....they not only affected my breast health....they are responsible for the fact that I can not even let my husband touch my breast because I am afraid they will start itching again.  I would like to know if I should do something other than buying new bras.  I am concerned that I let this go too long.....will I have any permanent damage or worse disease?  Thank you for any help that you can give.

WOW! This story explains all of my problems, headaches, rashes and other problems. I guess I will take pictures of these rashes under my breast area. I just figured it was from the bra rubbing and never realized it only started last year and that is when I started wearing the exact bra's they just showed on abc eyewitness news in Los Angeles. I wonder if I should take my bras back or hang on to them? They have left some scarring on my breast and back. If there is a lawsuit I think I would join or at least ask V.S. to foot the bill for an extensive exam for the rash I HAVE PAID FOR AND USED A LOT OF THINGS. I will never put these bra's back on and will contact my friends about this.

This explains everything!  Thank you to GMA!  I have been to dermatologists and allergists over the past year for this itchy, painful, red rash across my back, on my shoulders under the bra straps, and on my breasts.  I have had soooo many tests (all negative) and was told that I was allergic to "something".  I have been prescribed the combination of Zyrtec, Betamethasone Dipropionate lotion, Fluocinonide cream, Atarax, Zantac 300, Prednisone, Doxepin, Allegra, Singulair, and Celebrex in order to provide relief.  I could get full on the amount of pills I take for breakfast each day just to provide some relief.  I purchased a bunch of Victoria Secret Very Sexy Push-up Bras just before the rash developed, but never connected the rash to the bras until this morning.

I called Victoria Secret (800-945-5088) and told them I want a full refund for the Victoria Secret Very Sexy Push-up Bras I have purchased along with reimbursement for all out-of-pocket medical costs incurred for Dermatologist and Allergist visits including payment for prescription medications.  A customer service supervisor said she will send a pre-paid package label for return of the bras in exchange for a full refund.  She also told me someone will be contacting me with 3 days regarding reimbursement of medical bills relating to this rash.  I'm not holding my breath on that, but I'll keep you posted as to what happens if/when I actually get that call.

How Horrible is This!  I have been experiencing extreme itching, spotty rash around breasts, whelps and irritation to point of not being able to sleep for months.  I had my breast checked on August 1st, after 6 weeks of unbelievable discomfort, and was prescribed a cream to help no results and I have tried all over the counter drugs.  As I am writing this I have a rash around my lower breats, itching and a large whelp.  I thought I was going crazy!

I saw the story on Good Morning America on 11/11/08 about the Victoria Secret bras and reported rashes.  I also have a VS bra that I suspected could have caused the severely itchy, very red rash under my breasts and spent over a year and a half going to an allergist and a dermatologist for treatment.  I have several dated photos of my rash and would like to become part of a class action lawsuit.

I too would like to join the lawsuit. I have the Ipex bras and the Angel bras. Both cause severe itching despite using harsh deteregents to wash them. When I wear other bras I do not have this problem. Is it only the bras or are people having this problem with other garments such as pajamas or underwear?

Count me in too or at least hear my story.  Last September; Sept. 07', I started to get a rash for the most part one of my breast.  It got really bad that i would cry from the pain and how it itched soo bad that my husband would hold my hands so i couldn't scratch at my breast.  I went to the doctor and it seemed she could'nt really tell me what it was so she did a biopsy.  She said she believed it was eczema but i didn't and still don't believe her.  I think that was the only thing she could say without telling me she didn't know.  I noticed a pattern though.   All my bras are victoria's secret and eveytime I wore a specific one (a cotton body by victoria) I would always get this rash that did blister and itched prefusley.  i have discolorization in the spot this rash would appear.  The doctor had checked my bra for lace or frilly whatever but said it was a cotton bra so she didn't think it was the cause.  Hearing these other stories I beg to differ.

Some users here are incredibly insensitive.  Everybody is entitled to their opinions. Although I do agree that some of these posts here are ridiculously. ( wires, etc) I too was a Victoria secret lover. I loved vs bras. Until I found out what the culprit of my deformed, blistered covered breast.

Two years ago, I had a red bump under my left breast. I thought it could have been something cancerous, so I went to the doctors only to find out it wasn’t. He couldn’t figure out what it was, so he prescribed me medication and cream that made me sick.
I figured it’s no big deal, until the blisters bopped, and literally had an open hole on my breast. It bleeds for several days. And is scared for good now.  2 years later, my left breast is completely covered with many blisters, and mind you, the blisters are only on ONE side of the breast, right underneath. It is only in that area, and no where else in my body.

I was scared to tell my family and friends. I thought it was a personal issue, and wondered what I’ve done wrong, not only has it been lowering my self esteem, it caused me stressed..

What made me angry was to find that VS didn’t bother warning their consumers knowing what had happened. They disregard it to make a quick buck, although people’s lives might have been on the line.

Can anybody tell me how to get rid of the blisters and welts? What type of medication did you use? Any otc medication? Please help.

I too have had this same rash but it spread down my arms and body occcasionally.  I have photos of the huge welts, and the red hot rash.  The itch was insane!  I went to the extent of changing my laundry detergent, soaps, lotions, and nothing made it stop.  Has anyone experienced this with their panties?  I seem to get the same rash when I wear their panties as well, mostly along where the seams are at.

Hello everyone - I am djbj in the first of these posts from July.  I have contacted and retained the attorneys that are trying to get the Class Action Lawsuit registered in Ohio. If you have had similar damage as the above please take pictures and keep your records to send to the attorney.  You will also have to send your bras.  The attorney firm is Climaco/Lefkowitz/Peca/Wilcox & Garofoli @ (216) 621-8484.  The more evidence they collect the better the case to get these bras off the shelves.  I, after not wearing these bras since July 20, 2008 STILL have tissue damage in both breasts from whatever chemical they have used.  Beware of the bras Made in China.  And contact Dawn Chmielewski at the above number to get yourselves involved in this lawsuit.
Take care~ Debbie

I began wearing exclusively Victoria's Secret in 1998 (10 years ago). They were the only bras that gave me the support I needed while still being a pretty piece of clothing. About 8 or 9 years ago, I developed a rash near my nipples and went to the doctor. I was at college so I did not go to my normal GP. After I showed her my rash, she left the room and I could hear her outside saying "I've never seen that before." I was scared. She told me I had ring worm. I was humiliated. How does a grown woman get ring worm on her breast? I decided it had to be from the communal showers at the dorms and took precautions to prevent even minute contact with the surfaces there. I got some anti-fungal cream and the rash seemed to get better, but would flare up periodically. When the cream ran out and the rash came back, I decided to see a dermatologist in my home town. She diagnosed excema. I used a sample of Elidel until I read about it potentially causing cancer. I then started using plain old Noxema (it was created specifically for excema treatment). I just use it when I have a flare up, which now that I think about it happens more with new (VS) bras and not recently washed (VS) bras. I used to think I just had sensitive nipples and the seam of the bra was aggravating the skin. But,  I got some high end bras for my birthday last year and those do not bother me at all, even the very lacy one which I was hesitant to wear because of my "sensitivity".

I, too, have had a rash on both breasts (nipple area) on and off for the past 6 months.  I wear VS bras exclusively including the ones named in the lawsuit.  My doctor gave me anti-itch cream for my rash.  She thought it might be a fungal infection but was not sure.  I will try a different brand of bras to see if my rash goes away.  Can anyone recommend a good quality bra that won't cause this problem?

I won't join the lawsuit but won't buy Victoria Secret in the future.

I have been permanently scared under my right breast from a rash that appeared after wearing my Victoria's Secret Bra. I had never tried one of their bras, but am hard to fit, so thought I would give it a try. Soon after wearing it, I developed a painful rash, which developed into painful pus-filled blisters. They lasted for two weeks, and spread up between my breasts into my neck area. I thought I had shingles, at first, but showed it to my daughter-in-law, who is a nurse, and she told me that it appeared to be an allergic reaction. It itched, burned and kept me awake night after night, with no relief, reguardless of the application of hydrocortisone cream, cold compresses, benedryl, etc. I tried everything to get rid of it. Finally, I went bra-less and took lots of Ibuprophen for the pain, Benedryl for the itching, and waited for the rash and pain to subside. I literally stayed at home and suffered it out.  When the welts finally went away, I was left with one dark brown permanent scare under my right breast and 3 smaller scars up the front of my chest. I have no doubt that the bra caused me this discomfort. I kept the bra, deep-down knowing it was the "culprit". Because of the hidious pain and itching and suffering I endured, I want to become part of the class action law suit hoping that no one else has to undergo this discomfort, Thanks to ABC News for the update!

I can't believe this is happening. I got blisters from a bra from VS in June 2008. It looked like cigarettes were put out on me. I finally got my money back a month ago (begining of Oct.) They sent me a letter saying that if I sign it, it's as if nothing ever happened. Thank God I didn't sign it yet. The women at the store wouldn't even take the bra back. I had to call the corporate headquarters and complain about the whole thing. It has been one mess after another!!
They sent me a $100 gift card for my "troubles". I just spent it, thinking that if I didn't buy the same type of bra that it would be fine. I'm returning every last one of them now. This is crazy.

I thought I was the only one who was having this itchy feeling from Victoria Secret. I knew perfectly well though that it was from these bras, because every time I wore a cotton bras it went away, and every time I wore Victoria Secret bras the rush came back. I didn't know what to do, I thought I was crazy. But it turns out they are the ones at fault causing all of us to go through hell. I want to join the class action lawsuit. Can someone please tell me how??

I am so relieved that I saw this report on the news. I have been through hell with this affliction. I am in constant pain and discomfort, my skin is covered in welts, and is now pitted and scared from the itching. I have tried everything from calamine lotion, hydrocortisone, prescription anti itch  and rash creams, topical antibiotic creams, three rounds of antibiotics, oral cortisone, and on and on! NOTHING helps, nothing!!! If I could express to VS and news commentators who dismiss this as "no big deal, its just a rash", how many days I've broken down in tears over the frustration, the discomfort, and just looking awful!!! I can't believe a company like VS, who make their money of the beauty of women, have not shown more concern or compassion for the women their product has hurt.

I have suffered from this syndrome for the longest time.  I've tried to come up with several different causes to the rashes occuring underneath my breasts.  I visited my family doctor on several occasions to try and come up with an idea of what was causing the rash.  She never was able to come up with an exact reason, but prescribed me Triamcinolone Acetonide, a cream to help with the issue.  It never fully dealt with the rash, so I would often have to go several days without wearing a bra, which is never comfortable for me.  I always thought that it was an irritation due to sweating, but knowing that there is an actual cause for it makes me feel a little bit better.  Now that I have moved to differnet types of bras, I notice a difference.  It's incredible.  I loved the "very sexy" collection of bras for years, but now have a feeling that it was those beloved bras that brought on years of itchy misery.  I'm in california, what do I do to take action?

It's the panties too, ladies; the ones that are made of that same 'soft, rubbery' kind of material that the bras are. And this is not new. I've had rashes on my hips for 3 or more years now. I had no clue what was causing that horrible pain and itching! The itch that these things caused would make me want to claw into the bone!  I thought I had hives... or shingles... the doctors would just give me cream. As you all know, the creams don't work. I have scars on both my hips. They are big leathery, discolored patches. When I read of this, I found a pair in my 'old undie' drawer and started wearing them again. Low and behold... the rash started again within 2 days. And these things have been worn and washed for nearly 4 years! They still cause the rash! VS has some 'splainin' to do!

OMG!  A friend of mine just emailed me this info. on the bras this morning. I started with a rash in June 2008, after trying everything over the counter I went to my dermatologist. She said that it ws an allergic reaction. I couldn't come up with anything new that I had, so I took steroids for 12 days with no relief, I too was in pain. The redness, swelling and burning was horrible. I would cry to my husband at night and I stayed inside during the day just so I wouldn't have to wear a bra. I searched the interenet for answers, shingles, dermitis, paget's disease, inflammatory breast cancer....I wanted an answer. I went to my gyn, he said that he had seen heat rashes but never this. I went another dermatologist, he said that he was baffled and couldn't give me an answer. I had a mammogram, to my relief it wasn't cancer. And the itching and redness finally went away. But I still have no answer as to why I had it or where it came from. Every once in a while it will itch a little, but I do have Victoria Secret bras and I think that I may finally have my answers. Thanks, Victoria Secret I now have doctor bills to pay and scars to show!

I knew it. Figured someone would find the guts to file a lawsuit. I told my girlfriend she had the right to sue especially those kinds of wheals she had everytime she would wear that particular VS bra.  She had it really bad. There were serous fluid present, it gave her a rash, redness, and painful to the touch then after it turned into a dark scar for a long while before the marks faded. I told her to take a picture of it. She hesitated because she was scared to fight against a big company like VS. Perhaps now she would have enough guts since she's not the only one who had this reaction and had to suffer the way she did.

I was wondering if anyone else who wears the VS bras has developed skin cancer? About a 1 1/2 ago I noticed a small mole under my right breast where the underwire lays and it began to change shape and size I went to the dermatologist and it was skin cancer. I had it removed. Awful Scar. About 6 months later my girlfriend had the same thing in the same exact spot same breast and hers too was also skin cancer. She too wears VS. Unfortunatly under my left breast same spot where the underwire lays another mole is developing. I have read that formaldehyde causes cancer and was curious if this has happenend to anyone else??? Thanks!!!

I, too, have suffered from the itchy, red welts and rashes for over a year now - no explanation as to what they were. Lo and behold, come to find out, hundreds - maybe thousands - of other women are experiencing the same thing. I cannot believe it. These rashes are so horrible and itchy and have permanently scarred parts of my body. I've gotten them on my breasts, on the sides of my torso and hips and even on the insides of my thighs. If this class-action suit goes through, I will definitely join. I just called VS to complain and they gave me some PR-generated line about how they supposedly care about their customers' safety and integrity of the product. How well-rehearsed. I will *never* shop at VS again. God only knows that I've spent perhaps hundreds of dollars on bras over the years there. And to think their product is tainted with a dangerous chemical and they're denying it? Cheap bastards.

I have been a long standing customer of Victoria Secrets for years and I buy everything from there stores and catalogs. I have dealt with these rashes for years now and I thought I was sweating and that was the reason. I am just horrified over this because even my doctor had told me it looked like a heat rash and boy was she wrong. I have also had many vaginal rashes from their thongs and boy shorts. I stopped wearing those a couple of years ago but I had no idea that this was the reason for it. I own about 35 of their bras and I should have gotten a clue. This makes me absolutely sick. I have an awful looking blister on my chestand its absolutely disgusting. I have spent a great deal of money on these items and I want it all back. I want in on this lawsuit and if I have to do it alone with my own attorney, I shall. This is insanity.

Just a few days ago I have broken out in a cluster of bad bumps, rashes, whatever you would like to call them. I hike a lot, so I thought maybe a spider got into my clothes and ate me for lunch, excpet, it is winter, is very cold, and there are no white puss pockets from the bite. The spots have become much worse are are even speading from my back where the bra hits, to under my breast. This has caused great alarm to me because I thought of several other rashes or "mysterious" bug bites I have had over the last few months. I have noticed, even after all physical signs are gone- except some scarring, the area still continues to itch month later. I am a well educated girl and am not out to get anyone, but if there is a product out there that is making people ill, there is a serious problem. Just as an experiment, I wore the bra I thought might be irritating me, and sure enough the areas were very inflammed and I am paying the price today. Since these spots have appeared, wearing other bras other than my Victoria Secret bras, has caused my condition to improve. Less swelling, less itching, and less spreading. Because of this, I do not think it is just the bra "rubbing" an infected area being the cause. I hate to jump to conclusions, but I have opted out every other outside contaminet that might be irritating me. I live a very healthly and chemical free life- mostly organic products. I hate saying, but I will no longer wear their products, and even if the cost is higher, it pays to go organic. I hope this message gets out there and I hope people pay attention to what their bodies are telling them. I am yet again covered in welts, I know what it is from, and I guess I will have to pay the price till these things heal.

I have experiend the same rash and am convinced that it is from the VS bras that I wore.  I purchased 2 bras at the end of December and have had this problem ever since.  I have also experience dizziness and sweating.  Has anyone else?  I've stopped wearing the bras and went to a different brand and the itching is not as intense.  I'm still waiting for Victoria Secret to call me back.  Should I return the bras or hold on to them for evidence?

You know, almost everybody has allergies of one sort or another!  I have allergies and so does almost everybody I know.  I don't understand what it is these days with everybody wanting to sue everybody else.  I'm allergic to my watch because it's stainless steel, sure, it irritates my wrist when it's on for too long.  Does this mean I should go ahead and file a lawsuit against my watch manufacturer?  My son is allergic to cats, should I sue the petstore I got my cats from?  Why don't you just stop buying Victoria Secret bras if you have a problem with them???  Wipe the dollar signs from your eyes and get a bra from somewhere else!!  If people like you can't fix their problems and move on then our country is truly screwed!!!!  Don't forget, almost all of the people that buy and wear Victoria Secret bras have no problem at all.  You people have the allergy so adjust your life and move on.

This post doesn't apply for everybody in here, but it does apply to the people who got a rash and want to sue.  Get off the bandwagon, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

You obviously have not read all the blogs on this sight and others about this issue.  You also have not had a rash on your breasts like these people are describing, I have.  Yes, I would agree that there are a lot of sue happy people in this world and perhaps some are just looking to make a buck.  My concern is that a lot of us have gotten a rash from these bras so we stop wearing them because it  is visable.  What about those that don't show anything externally, like perhaps you.  Perhaps these bras could be a cause of breast cancer.  Have you not read what they are finding in these bras???  Formaldehyde!! Please read all the facts before you judge people.  By the way I am not part of this "bandwagon" because for me, I  am allergic to other brands of bras as well, Vanity Fare, Wacoal, and Victorias Secret! These companies all need to look into the manufacturing process of their bras especially those made in China!!!

This is a little embarassing but for the last 2 years, my nipples have been really dry (please don't laugh:) They itch and actually look like someone took sand paper to them.  I have a lot of allergies including fragrance and have eliminated it totally from my house.  Things seem to have cleared up except for my dry nipple.  I wonder if there could be from my VS bras?  I have no rashes of any sorts.........  Any one else have this problem?
