Coffee Allergy

Has there ever been a confirmation of a coffee allergy which caused a person to immediately collapse when catching the scent of coffee.??

Hello,

True coffee or cocoa allergy is rare. More commonly, reactions to coffee  are the result of a food intolerance or allergy to an ingredient in it. Coffee contains .3 grams of protein per eight ounce cup. When such an allergy occurs,it may cause hives,swelling,itching,hoarseness of voice and difficulty in breathing and life threatening anaphylaxis.

Fainting just with the smell of coffee is rare.Do you have any of the symptoms which I have mentined above with the consumption of coffee?It can be a food allergy then.

In my opinion if fainting due to smell of coffee occure,then get it evaluated from an allergist.Skin and blood tests can be used to confirm whether the syncopal attcake are a manifestation of coffee allergy or not.
