Cold or allergies?

My daughter, who just turned 8, has been complaning at night about sneezing, runny nose, scratchy throat, etc. This has been going on now for about 5 days. She has very little symptoms during the day. It's never bad enough to give her any kind of meds. But at night I have been giving her cold meds or benadryl, but it's not really working. I'm thinking it might be allergies because the "cold" isn't getting any worse or better and doens't show any signs of it during the day. It's not acting like a typical cold. But if it were allergies wouldn't she be having the symptoms all day and night? But I know that colds tend to get worse at night too.
We have cleaned out her room, washed the carpets, and washed her sheets, and put a cool mist humidifire in her room to see if that made a difference, but nothing.
I have asthma that has gotten a lot worse since spring has gotten here and her father is practically allergic to everything, and breaks out in really bad hives. So allergies run in our family, but they are different symptoms. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
Does this sound like a normal cold or could it be allergies, and what can I give her to make her more comfortable? She hasn't gotten a good nights rest in almost a week now.
(btw, nobody at home has had a cold or been sick unless she got it from school.)

This sounds to me as if your home is overrun with allergens, which can indeed be a very large problem with your type of family. I've found through research that most every home has a very bad air quality, but not everyone reacts the same to it. Your bodies have a very sensitive way about them, so allergens can easily upset the systems. Therefore, I would readily suggest a whole house air purifier system, preferably a Polarized Media Filter which you can put on your furnace.

I used to have problems with the air in my home, but since I got this filter I haven't had a problem. I heard about it originally from a friend of mine, and then I did research on the product before I bought it. I've not had a problem throughout the entire process, and I'm well pleased with the results, from both my friend and I.
