Come down with additional allergies?

by Susie1963, Mar 28, 2008 08:56AM
I had allergies when I was younger; pollen, mold, ragweed, cats, dogs, dust, etc.  When I was in around 1st grade, I didn't have to get shots anymore.  About 3 years ago, I started having a "foggy head" feeling and my general doctor told me allergies.  So, I went to an allergy clinic, had that scratch test and sure enough; pollen, mold, ragweed and dust mites.  NOW, my question is....the foggy head had gone away but the past 5 months or so, it's back.  I'm down to once a month for shots for what the test 3 years ago showed, but since I was allergic to cats when I was younger, but that scratch test 3 years ago didn't show cats, is it possible for that or other allergies to pop up later?  I have 2 cats, which i've had cats now for about 15 years.  I wouldn't get rid of them, but if it's possible for other allergies to come back, i'm wondering if the foggy head i'm having again, could be related to other allergies coming back that i'll need to get shots for in addition to what i'm currently getting?

Hi,

Your allergies could increase or decrease in severity and intensity over time and also new allergies could appear and old ones go away.

You would need regular follow ups with your doctor or allergy specialist to decide whether you need the 'shots' or not.

You should keep oral antihistmaine or antiallergic medications and an epi-pen at hand, that could be used in case of a sudden flare up of an allergic reaction.

Let us know what your doctor advises.

Regards.
