Could Allergies Be Causing These Symptoms?

by Armobro1918, Sep 01, 2006 12:00AM
Here is what has been going on with me for the past month and a half... July 4th weekend I was diagnosed with Strep Throat.  I went to the doctor and he prescribed me Zithromax which helped out a lot.  On the last night of my 5-day prescription, I had ear popping/fullness, and general body aches.  I also had a fever that night, but that was probably because I was forcing myself to stay under the covers so I wouldn't get sick again.  Next day I had a racing heartbeat, fatigue, and aches.  (I had A LOT of anxiety at this time as well.)  I went to the doctor again and described my symptoms, and the doctor put me on a 10-day Keflex prescription as he thought there might be some infection from the Strep Throat left.  He also ordered a Throat Culture and a Complete Blood Count to make sure everything was ok.  All the tests came back normal. On July 25th, I was on a plane to Los Angeles with my mom, and when we were desceding, the strangest thing happened. My nose suddenly filled up with so much mucus that I was blowing all out for about 20 minutes straight. August 24th I came back, same thing happened. The only symptoms I have left are:

Ear popping/fullness-ALL THE TIME
Congested nose (One nostril blocked while the other is fine/constantly switches nostril to nostril)-ALL THE TIME
Headaches-Ocasionally
Racing Heartbeat/Heart palpitations-Very little
Tingling Head/Knees-Ocasionally
General Aches-Very little
My bowel movements have also changed.
Could all this be caused by seasonal allergies?  My dad also has severe seasonal allergies, my dad's dad does too. I'm only 15.

Well I have figured out what is causing my knee tingling, and it seems to be a pinched nerve.

SOunds like an ear infection, with left over fluid in the ear, which can tale a while to clear up. The build up of fluid especially with changing altitude can cause the stuffy nose, and just move the congestion in general. The antibiotics can certainly mess with bowel movements. If things don't get better in a couple of weeks go back to the dr and see if you have an ear infection. I know from expereince the fluid can take weeks to go away, and drive you crazy with poping, and runny nose.

Does anyone know what the tingling can be caused from?  My tingling head I am sure is because of my sinus problems, but what about my tingling knees?  I do feel some sort of pinched nerve in my pelvic area, so could that be the cause of my tingling knees?

Nerves are the most common cause for tingling feelings. SO if you do have a pinched nerve it could certainly cause tingling in your lower body. See a neurologist if it does not get better in a few weeks, or you notice things like drop foot. Drop foot is where you can not lift up on your toes. Try to walk on your toes, if you can't you have some nerve problems going on for sure.
