I was at the ETN yesterday, due to having a winter full of sinus infections. After taking a CT of my sinus, he discovered what he thought looked like a fungal infection in one sinus (on my left cheekbone). He explained to fix it he would need to go in and remove a piece of bone, clean out the fungus, then I would need to do a rinse to treat the infection. He also explained that this was why I often felt so much pressurePressure ulcer in that area but its not a neccesity to take care of it. He also explained that there were a few passage ways he could open up to help things drain better. My concern is that having horrible allergies, this will not be as effectiveEffective strength cough syrup as I would hope. But it sounds a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys gross to leave the fungus sitting in my sinus. Any advice or thoughts???
Hello,
Fungal infections of the sinuses have recently been blamed for causing most cases of chronic rhinosinusitis. If your doctor has confirmed it to be fungal sinusitis ,then surgical treatment is the only option of treatment.
If left untreated, erosion into the adjacent structures may occur. It can cause worsening of symptoms and complications, such as those involving the orbit and CNS.
If it is fungal sinusitis, then I would suggest you to go ahead with the surgery that your doctor has planned for you.
I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted.Warm regards.
The symptoms can be related to fungal sinusitis. You can get it confirmed by getting total Ig E levels, transillumination (passing light through the sinuses),Sinus X-rays or CAT scan of sinuses and fungal culture of nasal and sputum specimens.
Without fungal culture,it cannot be confirmed whether the infection caused is bacterial or fungal in nature.
I hope it helps.Take care and regards.
