Hi,
I am a 37 year old, and I've been struggling with a sinus infection for the last 3 months.  I mean once I think it has cleared up, then it reoccurs.  Now it has returned worst than the first time.

I'm experiencing neck, jaw, shoulder head and eye pains.  I can understand all the pains except for the new pains that I began experiencing along with the sinus infection which is the shoulder and neck pain with stiffness of the neck.  I even have warm sensations in my upper and lower back especially in the chest area and at the back of my neck.   I hoping it's just muscle spasm, and praying it's not a sign of meningitis.  I'm very afraid and don't know what to do.  I don't what test I need to take to rule out something that may be a major condition.

Jenn,

I believe that it indicates if there is inflammation in your body (your throat problem).  I had it tested along with ANA (indicative of auto-immune disorders), rheumatoid factor, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.  I was having a problem with my wrist which we were trying to figure out.  All turned out normal.

Additionally, I have the sensation of something being in my throat along with difficulty swallowing.  The more I think of it the worse it gets, even to the point that I think I'll choke to death.  This has turned out to be "globus hystericus".  It's related to being anxious.  I also have pains in my shoulder and neck (usually on one side at a time, but it does switch).  I think it's just stress/tension related.

I really hope that the doctors can get to the bottom of this for you and that it will turn out to be nothing to worry about.

Thank you!  I don't know exactly what tests they have ran... what could a sed test tell me?

Jenn,

Sorry that your going through such a tough time.  I had elevated liver enzymes on two blood tests and had a liver biopsy to rule out a problem (not that I'm saying you need that).  My understanding is that liver enzymes can be elevated for pretty inocuous reasons.  I would probably make sure they checked your SED rate for one thing.  I don't know what to say about your other problems (allergy/sinus related perhaps?) but I sure do hope that you get to the bottom of it quickly so you can be well for your little one!
