Eosinophilic Esophagitis, 566 IgE, skin test results

I was recently diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis
" Eosinophilic Esophagitis with reactive hyperplasia and eosinophilia, greater than 20 eosinophils per high power field "
from biopsy results
IgE value is 566
Took a skin test, was allergic to almost everything as far as trees, grasses, and weeds goes. I also tested high for Cats, Dust Mites, and a couple of Molds (Alternaria, Penecillium, and Stemphylium). Here is a pic so you don't think I'm exaggerating. http://imgur.com/nO3lj02,azVup2W

As far as foods go,I tested through the roof for Cashews but I already knew about that. I also showed a reaction, but all of them on the lighter side,  to Corn, Crab, Lobster, Oat, Olive, Peas, Soybean, and Pinto Beans.    I  eat a lot of those all of the time. I have always eaten a lot of those all of the time.   I also hike outside all of the time.  The only things I've ever known I had an allergy to were Cats and Cashews because I'm basically just screwed if I eat Cashews, and my eyes always get insanely itchy around Cats.   And it's not consistent with the Cats either. Sometimes I can hang out with them and be fine. It's weird.

I also had a CT of sinuses done and they concluded Chronic Sinusitis and Deviated Septum.

As far as treatments go, I was put on Bucosinide (oral steroid for EE) for about 2 months and saw 0 improvement. that's it.

I was recently enrolled in MediCAL and the system is pretty slow / kinda ***** to say the least, so since I'm going to be waiting for awhile before i can even get to the right doctor again, what steps are recommended from here on out?

It didn't start because of Benadryl I didn't start taking that until after everything started.

What kind of neurological affects from Benadryl?

There were a couple of allergies I knew about before any of this, yellow pollen (???), Cats (occasionally, not always), and Cashews (always).

I'm not sure what triggered EoE. I had started eating a lot of Carrots, but got tested for that and no allergy. Aside from that there reallly weren't any new foods I introduced to my diet so I think maybe there was an environmental trigger or possibly a virus...... Not sure if I'll ever get to the bottom of it.

For MEDI-CAL, if live in sacramento or San diego district, kaiser might be offered, if you were originally with kaiser, because they have better and quick service than medi-cal, i dont know how it works to get kaiser through medi-cal there, but it maybe only for 65 medicare. I am currently waiting for my dr appointment next week, made it almost 3 weeks ago. Sorry for so much allergies, do you get major reactions, like swelling, itchyness sneezing fromt hese? if it was 1-2 allergies i would try immunotherapy, but with so many, it may not be possible.
Oh i dint notice it started around same time you took benadryl, but i suspect you could be allergic to those drugs or the inactive ingredients, that probably made you allergic to alot of things later on. once you get an allergy you more likely to get more.

Same thing is happening with my symptoms, they suddenly appeared after i took benadryl and dxm miture. i suggest you get off the Benaydrl and try the other antihistimine, the later generation ones. Benadryl is known to cause neurological symptoms that can be long lasting even after you stopped taking, theres not much research, or lack of, but i believe thats what im experiencing from stopping Benadryl, there are accounts on other forums that getting off BENadryl, can cause side effects, even after it wears off.
If the Benadryl is suppressing the symptoms, please continue, if you have build to tolerance, you might want to try the safer ones.

Damn I wish I had known all of this about the older drugs. I was more or less in perfect health most of my life and all of this kinda just started overnight right before I turned 25. I have never taken any medicines before and just started taking a lot of Benadryl and Ibuprofen (for a back injury that happened around the same time) and have definitely  noticed the side effects.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Nothing going on for awhile, will post if/as more info turns up.

I ahve tried steroid spray for my sinus issues, they have no effect, an OTC antihistamine is your best bet, make sure to get the generic versions, as brand names are 50-100% mor expensive. Make sure to look online, amazon for generics before going to grocery store, convient store, because they will sell generics but will be at different price from each other.
Your chronic sinisitus, and allergies are aggravated by the deviated septum, because it blocks proper nasal breathing, and moisture into your nose, and draining causing inflammation and infection from all the dryness. I am curious will they let you have your deviated septum fixed? because i have the same deviated septum as well.
Just a little warning, you might be more sensitive to the older generation drugs, they can be powerful, but they may cause major side effects.

I have MEDI-CAL its kinda annoying. i am currently waiting on my PCP in sf, to refer me to AN ENT, because i lost partial sense of smell and taste. i would rather have a neurologist, because ive been exhibiting tingling, pain and needle sensations, after i took some Diphenhydramine, with DXM,Phenlyeprine, and ACETIMENIPHEN. unlike kaiser, where you can email your doctor(s) and they can reccommend home treatment or an appointment, This one you have to call PCP for a appointment.
Sorry about my personal rant, but that is my ongoing issue right now.
What u expect MEDI-CAL is govt welfare, it supposed to be slow, if you want better service buy insurance.

Your Eosiniphilic eosophagitis, is definitely caused by eating foods that cause allergies, Stop eating them.
You should try anti-histamine for your allergies, it seems to be able to help in your case.
You might want to experiment which one is best. Get Lotaradine(claritan), ceterizine(zyrtect), fexofenadine(allegra), or try the older generation such as diphenhydramine(benadryl), chloroperamine, any of the older antihistimine is will cause drowisiness as their primiary side effects, so be warned, Also these have alot more side effects than the new ones as well, because they affect the brain.
so you should try the newer generation ones. Lotaradine is the cheapest of the new ones, but probably not that effective, the other 2 are pretty expensive to try but may work.
