Fish allergy or something else?

Hi Everyone

I had a sudden reaction to prawns and then since then i cant even look at fish and i get a rash and warm body.  But my question is, how long does it take for the 'fish' to work out of my system.  Its more than a month and i am still getting pimple like bumps on my chest, neck and back, even my head have small falt sensitive bumps.  But i also get small pimples on my arms that looks like ingrown hair. i have never had this in my life!  Could this be from the fish or do might i have another condition that is giving me an skin reaction? funny enough i dotn get anything on my face? the rash is also itchy

Hello and hope you are doing well.

It could be an allergic reaction, more so if the symptoms have occurred with the consumption of the same food. Maintain a food dairy and note down and monitor your symptoms. This may help to narrow down the search.

The diagnosis of allergy is difficult to prove or refute. Clinical suspicion and trial of elimination diets are used. An allergy specialist might be able to help you.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I am now very allergic to fish, shellfish. I get a similar reaction as yours, but on my face - be glad you can at least hid it! Yes, it can happen, and go get tested.  When they tested me, though I had eaten shellfish and seafood all my life with no problem, I knew what the reaction was from.  The dermatology consult said it was not shellfish, but the hair products I used. The skin test confirmed what he said - that I was fine with shellfish.  I was pretty sure they were wrong, but I wanted to believe so bad, I almost celebrated with shrimp on the way home from the hospital. Thank goodness I didn't, they called me the next day with the results of the blood allergy test, and I was highly allergic to shellfish and a boatload of other things. I see weightloss in my future If this does not improve soon! I hope your doctor will give you the test, and that your test results are better than mine.  Be mindful that at least for me, the skin ***** test was completely wrong - It was the blood test that confirmed my limited diet.

{{{ sometimes }}}} when you have an allergic response, I've found that the rest of your body can over-react for awhile .. so maybe this is in reaction to something that you never used to be "allergic/intolerant" to ?  Just a thought to share with you ... only your doctor can test and help find an answer perhaps.

Let us know how you are doing.
