Food Allergy

Hello,

I have a question. I live in Wisconsin and for the past week or so my ears have been bothering me, not in a major way, but mildy so. The other day I was looking for something warm to drink and I took Theraflu (without having real flu or cold sypmtoms) and drank it on an empty stomach. About an hour later I went to get something to eat - Chinese food. I ate a dish which consisted of soy sauce, chili oil, canola oil, chicken, egg, sugar, salt and a soy bean extract of some type. I also ate a fortune cookie and beer. A chocoloate candy followedd.Sounds harmless and almost amusing by reading.

However, about twenty minutes after eating this, I started to feel very full, and then I had difficulty catching my breath. I laid down. Suddenly my tongue and side of my face started feeling numb and swollen. After a few minutes, I was able to catch my breath, and my face started feeling better. During the evening, I have difficulty sleeping and my eyes were tearing alot, and I had very red eyes the next day.

At first I thought I had a bad reaction to the food I had eaten, however I have never had a bad reaction to this type of food before, although I do not eat it that often. I then read about possible complications associated with Theraflu, and it said that difficulty breathing and swolleness in the face (not gladular) was a serious side effect that required immediate medical attention.  Funny thing is, I have taken Theraflu before without a problem, or at least that I could remember.

What should I do? Go to the doctor and explain this situation. ANyone's insight is appreciated.
