While you may be having panic or hyperventilation it is very important to exclude other problems with at least a chest xray and a complete panel of pulmonary function tests.  Asthma can cause your symptoms as well

Before i read the line you wrote about the panic attacks, i thought that was exactly what was going on. I have had a full blown panic attack before and it is not fun. if you have been under a lot of stress lately it may be causing a panic attack. If it is a panic attack or you feel those symptoms again try taking very slow deep breaths. my doctor told me, after i told her about my panic attack, that the best way to pull yourself out of it is to inhale for 8 seconds then exhale for 8 seconds and that will pull you out of the panic attack very quickly. If it turns out that it is not a panic attack and the breathing exercise is not working, don't panic, try to pay attention to your environment to see if you can find the source of your allergic reaction, if that is what it is. also if you're convinced it is an allergic reaction get tested for allergies.
