I went to the doctor, he gave me an antibiotic and Allegra D. I have one last Question. Can Asthma make my heart race? What about allergies and stuffu nose.
My brother has asthma, and his heart does race, but only when he starts having an "attack". He has to take a breathing treatment when it gets bad. Maybe the sinus thing has something to do with it, when my allergies/sinuses bother me I get heart palpitations, doc said this is because the nervous system gets all worked up. Hope this helps. take care.
Hey thanks. My doc gave me the anti-biotics, so my throat doesn't feel swollen anymore. My neck, however, has been hurting in short, little spurts--not constanly, and I just kind of have this discomfort in my shoulders and neck region. My headache is now coming and going--no longer for long, drawn out periods--like on Monday, I had a headache for six hours.
Is it normal to have neck pain and stiffness with sinuses?
Hi
im 15 years old and my throat started hurting on sunday then it was worse on monday then by tusday morning i had lost my voice. And now my ear has started to hurt inside.
For the past 4 months I have been experiencing on and off sinus infections. I have taken Augmentin, Biaxin and Levaqin along with Nasonex daily. Finally about a month ago I went to see an ENT and had a CT Scan of my sinuses. He found that my sphenoid sinus was infected, so he put me back on Levaqin for a month along with a 7 day dose of a steriod. I am on my last week of levaqin and I still feel lightheaded, pressure on my cheeks, aching pain on my head, headaches and now neck discomfort. I always feel tired too. Shouldn't I feel better already? I am really concerned at this point. I feel like these antibotics are not helping. I go back to the ENT in 2 wks. I hope to get some answers.
in february 2006 I started having snorting sounds like something had swollen behind my palate up my thorat
Then feeling sick.... all doctors said it was just anxiety until one of them said hey you are having green postnasal drip.... it is sinusitis. It took me 3 one week antibiotics to get rid of it
then two months later, i started having a pain in the center of the skull above my throat... behind my palate and having bad taste and smell coming from there.... also sore throat and ear pain... i also had a mild headache on the top of my head. I went to another doctor and she said it was sinusitis.. she gave me a 21 day antibiotic round (Avelox)
On the 18 day, i went to ENT doctor and i said i still had this pain on center of skull at the jaw evel inside. Also the apin like a tight belt from ears to top of head. He said it was TMJ suggested taking strong ibuprofen doses, put hot compresses on jaws and ears, and use a bite sports guard... I did it for three days
Then the worst headache ever in my life hit me.... i felt my head was going to explode. I had ended my anitbiotics. I thought it was sinuses so bought and took Advil sinus one in the morning and one in the evening. The relief was almost instantaneous although not absolute. I was happy though for I thought i got rid of the porblem... after a week of Advil i went to a doctor at my health cae center in GWU looking for guidance. She said I was healing an to try Afrin for three days
I did... it did not take it all off... but it helped.... three days after being done with the Afrin THOUGH, I GOT THE WORST EVER HEADACHE IN MY LIFE. WORST THAN THE ONE I MENTIONED ABOVE. MY FOREHEAD WAS NUMB, MY EYEBROWS, MY EYELIDS, MY FOREHEAD, THE TOP OF MY HEAD AND ALL AROUND IT HURT. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT. I FELT TIRED, LETHARGIC. I ALSO FELT LIKE SOMEONE HAD PUNCHED MY NOSE AND A DEEP PAIN BEHIND MY NOSE INSIDE MY SKULL...
I went to emergency they did a CT scan that did not show anything. The doctor said it was likely to be an acute sinusitis though and prescribed 2 weeks of antibiotics and to visit ENT. The next day i went to ENT doctor and he dismissed the emergency guys and sasid i had a migraine and sent me to neurologist. and gave me migraine medication...
I took the migraine (Imitrex?) medication for three days and i was stil having excritiating pain and lethargy. I decided to go ahead with antibiotics. Two days later i was not lethargic and the headache started to recede....
I decided to leave the GWU doctors and went looking for ENT at Georgetown University Hospital. I got to see these new doctr on my last day of antibotics... I said my headache had shrunk but felt i was not still well. She said we would see how i do without antibiotics and told to come back intwo weeks. She noticed though that my tonsils were red and took a culture....
aweek later the headache and earace was coming back along with sore thorat., drooping eyelids. Met my new ENT and she said thay had found strep infection... gave me another round of two week antibiotics.....
i finished the second round of antibiotics which helped in reducing all the symptoms but did not get rid of it. Two weeks later again i feel headahces, earahces, sore thorat, jaw joint pain, foul smell and taste from back up my throat.... i have had a thorat CT and a brain MRI and i am waiting for the results.... hoefulyy they will show what i think it is nost likely I have... a sphenoiditis or sphenoid sinusitis.....
Takae a look at this interesting article about the Sphenoid sinus:
I'm fifteen and i have been having throat aches, not a sore throat, more of like an aching of the muscles by my throat, especially if i laugh or sing. what is up with that?
I thought I was going crazy. I started with a root canal in Nov. then had the tooth pulled in March and I am still fighting jaw pain. I am going to a endodotist next month. I have been on lortab and multiple antibiotics. I am miserable but the dentist has no idea what could be causing it.
Hi,
Sinusitis refers to an inflammation of the sinuses, airspaces within the bones of the face. Sinusitis is most often due to an infection within these spaces.
When the lining of the sinuses is at all swollen, the swelling interferes with the normal flow of mucus. Trapped mucus can then fill the sinuses, causing an uncomfortable sensation of pressure and providing an excellent environment for the growth of infection-causing bacteria.
Acute sinusitis usually follows some type of upper respiratory tract infection or cold. There may be fever. Headache and pain over the affected sinuses may occur, as well as a feeling of pressure which may worsen when the patient bends over. There may be pain in the jaw or teeth.
Allergies could be treated as an dwhen they come on with OTC anti-histamines.
Thanks for your post. Went through the same exact thing as you going on ten years now. some good days mostly bad. Wearing a nightguard for TMJ on anti-candida diet taking Paragone and Probiotics antibiotics........................ and I still have that thing in the back of my throat. Seeing a new ENT next week . What antibiotics are you currently taking?
Do you consider bacterial infectiiuos sinusitus or fungal infectious sinusitis?

It might be TMJ, TMJ is jaw dysfunction that can cause both neckpain and headaches. It is caused by poor posture with your neck or can be an actual problem with the joint itself. Check it out. When I am having a TMJ episode, my neck and back hurt along with pressure behind the eyes, lightheaded feeling, and a headache that is dull but lasts a long time. hope this helps you. good luck.
Hi ellegal!
Thanks i thought it was TMJ also but I have been treating it with Nightguards for a year with no luck. The muscle Jaw pain is going away but not the awful sore throat and foul taste in back of throat.
Hello :) I'm a Dental Hygienist and quite often we get patients in with "TMJ" or constant headaches. Please also consider your occlusion. If it's "off"/"high" even in the slightest area(s) these symptoms can occur, but do find a Dentist who is skilled in doing occlusal adjustments as it takes good technique to alleviate this problem. Hope this helps someone!!!
I started having pain in my jaw area and just in front of my right ear (feel like ear ache) about 2 weeks ago. The pain does not seem to have any pattern. There has also pain tingling pain in my teeth on the right side. Sometimes it is the top teeth and sometimes the bottom. Now I am having problems with my throat also. I feel like someone is holding tight on the right side of my throat. I have no idea what it is. It does seem to help when I hold cold water on that side of my mouth. the doctor gave me 80-0mg Ibuprofen but that really doesn't help much. The important thing right now is that I make sure it is not some type of infection, as my 15 year old niece who has cancer is coming to stay with me so I can take care of her. I'm afraid of giving her something. I think it could probably TMJ because of the stress but I didn't think that affected the throat. Any thoughts, advise?????
I was diagnosed with Trigeminal neuralgia ( a nerve disorder) after about 12 visits back and forth to the dr and dentist and MRI... I was experiencing extreme pain in my jaw, face, eyes, and head. Couldn't sleep all night. It was AWFUL. Once diagnosed, I went to a neurologist who presribed a medication and it took care of it. After some time I went off of it and I have been ok since. They can't pinpoint a cause for it, but say triggered by anxiety and stress. Hope that helps.
Here is a link about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trigeminal_neuralgia
Your dentist can give you a muscle relaxer, such as flexoril to take at night while you sleep. A night guard will protect your teeth but your jaw muscles can still be sore from clenching/grinding at night. Stress will cause you to clench/grind your teeth. Everyone is stressed these days (especially with the economy), so you may need something more than someone just telling you to de-stress (which is easier said than done). I am also a dental hygienist.
