Wow, my allergist is a whole lot cheaper.  Without medical coverage up here in Calgary, Alberta I am paying only $140 for the first bottle of antigen (for cat and dust mites allergy) and it is suppose to last a year.

I had my first shot a week ago (due for 2nd tomorrow), so it will be a while until I can comment on the effectiveness.  But think of the cost of the antihistamines you are using, I am using one aerius almost everyday for most of the year (daily from march to november when for some reason it is worse) and almost daily for the rest of the year.  This is roughly $28 X 12months = $336 a year on meds.   That is over $2000 for the 6 year period.

Hello,
A series of allergy shots (also called allergy vaccination or specific immunotherapy) will cost $1,480 to $1,960 after six years. Although expensive, allergy shots may cost no more than the combined cost of medicine, doctor and emergency room visits, and missed days of school or work over several years. But you may need to take regular shots for 3 to 5 years, and it may take a year or more for symptoms to improve.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
