I recently started to have allergies and allergic asthma and I am desperate

I have seen the doctor like 5 times and regardless of the medicines, nothing seems to work

I get runny nose, sometimes it drips virtually water, itchy ears, constant wheezing and coughing to the point it hurts to cough already

they gave me advair for my coughing and it doesnt work, they gave me benadryl, allegra, and a bunch of other antihiestamines and they still dont do the job

I am almost to the point of giving up because it just unbelievably annnoying because I cant sleep well any more, I wake up with a dry mouth because I cant breath and if I open my mouth I still have to deal with the wheeziness.

help me please I am desperate, are there any good real medications that will do the job for me?

I had the allergic asthma for over a year now, but the actual runny nose, itchines of ears and mouth started about a month ago.

PLEASE HELP

Also some meds help but just a little, something you can take more than one. I take NasalCrom and antihistamine at the same time. Talk to your doctor before mixing meds.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hello,

Going by your symptoms,I feel that you might be having allergic rhinitis or sinusitis.Cough causes include include asthma, allergic rhinitis, sinus problems (for example sinus infection),post nasal drip and esophageal reflux of stomach contents(GERD) if lung pathologies are excluded.

Take some warm saline gargles and inhale steam. Inhaling steam from a bowl of hot (but not boiling water) may help to soften, and loosen, the build up of mucus in your sinuses. You can add menthol crystals, or eucalyptus oil to the water. Also take plenty of fluids throughout the day.

You can also take OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin. . Use an over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant combined with an anti-inflammatory analgesic (pain reliever) like Ibuprofen. However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. You can use bronchodilators for difficulty in breathing and wheezing. If the symptoms still do not improve then pls consider showing yourself to an immunologist as steroid sprays or oral steroids may be needed and they are available on prescription. Immunotherapy can also be considered.

Hope it helped.

Take care and regards

I agree with the last post and would like to add that allergy tests do not test for the concentrated proteins that are more and more in our foods.  These types of proteins bypass the regular digestive system.  (Broth, Some Natural Flavorings, Anything Hydrolyded etc.)  are some ingredients I found to make me react.

Look at your diet and see if there is something you have added, such as  a "Diet or Sugarless" anything with aspartame,,,,which has several ingredients people are finding themselves allergic to. It makes my mouth swell itch, my chest tight, and if I have it consecutively a rash.

Sorry to hear this. NasalCrom Nasal spray might help might not. It won't dry you out. Not a steroid. Mixes well with other meds. But don't mix nasal sprays. There are other stronger ones like Musenex ect that can stop the runny nose.

I take Clarinex antihistamine. Helps but does not stop it. Same with NasalCrom, help but  does not stop it. I was wearing a HEPA filter mask for a while to get relief. It worked, no allergy when I wore it. Even a small paper mask helps just a little.

Allergy shots was the only true thing to help me. After 6 months I felt much better. I'd not be able to control it with out the allergy shots. No way. Talk to your allergist about maybe starting the shot program. It does take years to finish the shots.

I use an inhaler called Proventil for the allergy induced asthma as needed.

You are going to have to make changes in the home. I hope there are no pets. If so bathe them twice a week. Carpets are a problem. Dirty laundry must be washed promptly. Vacuum every other day. Some HEPA air purifiers in your bedroom can help. I used 3 of them to sleep at night before I started shots.

Clean with bleach to make sure no mold is growing on the grout around the shower or tub.

Keep windows shut all the time, and change or clean air condition/heater filters monthly!!!!

You can also check if you have food allergies too as I did. Good luck. Think about getting allergy shots.
