I smell smoke constantly, what do I do next?

I smell smoke constantly for a day or two at a time then it goes away for awhile. Being in a smoky environment seems to trigger it also. When I Google it, it seems a lot of people have this problem but there are so many different scenarios and cures. I am about to go crazy. It's really bad this time and no relief. I am gagging when I cough.
Glad to know I am not the only one that suffers, at least I am not crazy.
