Hi, welcome to the forum, she is having streptococcal pharyngitis, which is an infection with group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus bacteria. It has symptoms like fever, headache, sore throat, white spot on tonsils etc and should be treated to avoid complication in future.

There are certain diseases which care transmitted by pets which includes cat. It is not due to allergy. The other modes of transmission should be looked for. Crowded living condition in the family and school can predispose to infection. The other causes are incomplete antibiotic treatment, other copathogens and repeated exposure.

Treatment with primary antibiotic is penicillin and its congeners; others are cephalosporin, macrolides etc agaisnt prescription will help. I suggest you to consult pediatrician and undergo examination and take medications against prescription. Take care and regards.

Where does the infection come from? Who carries the streptococcus bacteria that is in close contact with your daughter? Does she go to day care? Or is it perhaps a different type of sore throat issue? Has her Doctor sent for a culture analysis?

Strep throat is easily misdiagnosed!  Out of 5 criteria for a diagnosis if 4- 5 are present there's a only a 50-50 chance that it actually is a strep throat infection.

Sorry, but I have little faith in the medical system. It pays to be skeptical, thorough and proactive!

If indeed it is, the antibiotics will do 3 things: a. Reduce the duration of the infection by a day,b. Avoid potential complications, 3. Shorten the contagious stage of the infection.

However talk to your Pharmasist or Holistic practitioner about Probiotic supplements to make up for the damage from the antibiotics. Very important to re-build her flora and restore your girl's immune system.

I agree with allmymarbles.  Strep is a bacterial infection that has serious consequences if not treated propperly with antibiotics.

I think that she is not getting the correct antibiotic for her strep or that the course is insufficient to completely treat the infection.

I suggest that you discus the repeated history with her doctor and what can be done to stop the cycle.  She made need to have her tonsils taken out, but consider that only as a last resort.

Have a blessed New Year.

Strep throat is an infection, not an allergy. I have never heard of a cat giving a human a strep infection.
