Is this a sinus headache?

Is this a sinus headache?

So about 3 days ago I had a mild headache(frontal area). Along with watery eyes and a cough. I thought I was alright until one day I went to a hookah bar and smoked and started coughing, but I noticed the mild headache pulse and hurt more after that coughing session. For the next couple of days I continued to have a stronger headache with pain mainly in the frontal area of my head, though I did notice pain in different parts of my head such as when I sit up from laying down, bend over, turn my head, walk at a decent pace. A very pressurized pain. Is it possible for allergies to cause this for 4 days!? I did hit my head at work but I don't think it was that serious or that it is directly associated with this. My life has come to a halt, I don't want to do anything but sleep and rest. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the forum, it is important to rule out the cause. Firstly, migraine can be suspected, if so the triggering factor for your headache like specific food, smell etc has to be ruled out. As in your case smell of perfume is triggering factor.

Systematic evaluation using CT/MRI of brain will rule out other brain pathology if exists. If it comes normal, should consider the possibility of migraine. In such cases trigger factor should be isolated and need to avoid further exposure. It can be treated with the help of NSAIDs and triptans (for acute attack) otherwise few medications like propranalol against prescription are available as preventive measure.

Even sinusitis should be ruled out which present as pressure over fore head. This can be ruled out with the help of appropriate head x-ray which can visualize the para nasal sinuses. If sinusitis present then draining of sinuses will provide immense relief.

I suggest you to consult ENT specialist. Take care and regards.

try a OTC medicine to help with sinus pressure, see if that takes care of it.
