Looking for a reason for sinus pain

This is my 2nd bout with nasty sinus pain. My sinuses and teeth hurt, sometimes it hurts into my ears and down my neck. I do have allergies. I do not have a runny or stuffy nose or a fever. Post nasal drip is at its norm. I have tried over the counter sinus meds--they don't seem to help much. I limit how much I take to avoid a rebound effect. I also get sinus headaches. I am taking claritin for allergies. The heating pad helps some. I hate to waste a trip to the doctor if not necessary. I've tried both medicated and saline nasal sprays--I think they made things worse.

OK, I have used a "Neti Pot" u can get this at Walmart, it is cheap and it works, after you use it....mannnn. It feels so much better.  They have saline packs that go in them too. This helps heal those tissues that are inflammed. Good luck!

What you are having can be due to sinus congestion especially chronic sinusitis. It can be due to allergic nasal polyps or tumors, allergic reactions, deviated nasal septum, trauma to the face, respiratory tract infections, allergies such as hay fever, immune system cells or cystic fibrosis.

It is important to find out the cause of chronic sinusitis as then specific treatment can be started. Treatment varies from saline and steroid nasal sprays to decongestants and antibiotics. Some resistant cases may need surgery. As for now, inhale plenty of steam.
