Mild stinging sensation

I have been suffering with a bad cough for about 5 weeks now, I have been to the Doctors but he advised there is no medication I can take for it. Last night I awoke (as usual) coughing and rushed to the bathroom as I felt I might vomit. After coughing and blowing my nose countless times I went back to bed, I awoke an hour later and had breakfast as usual however I have this odd sensation in both cheeks which has never been there before. It's a bit like when you use a strong mouthwash and eat or drink something straight after, it wasn't too bad this morning but I just ate some fruit and it became so intense I couldn't actually eat any more. My face also seems swollen, and possibly my glands too.
Any idea what it could be?

That is really awful. I live in the UK and I don't know about anything like that over here- thankfully. I suffer from enough natural allergies such as hay, pollen, animal fur- I can't imagine what I'd be like where you are!

Thank you for your reply- coughs are so frustrating because usually the Doctors wont give you anything for it. Mine told me, "honey, just get some rest and pamper yourself". Not great advice. As for my cheeks- I've put it down to swollen glands which might be from being run down- from all the coughing! If you can, you need to inform someone that you are all becoming ill. Get a petition going round!

I have had a dry cough that wakes me at night for months now , along with other symptoms like sneezing a lot scratchy throat, headaches, my dh and neighbors where I live have the same , we have put it down to environmental allergies. They are bombarding us with aerial/chem  spraying and if you do some research they say what it is being sprayed, many toxins .It your case it may not be this but we are sure here, that it is and many are sick .
