My 10 year old Son Justin

I hope someone can help because the last 2 doctors could not. My 10 year old son has had this problem for almost 2 years now. He was constantly clearing his throat so we brought him to the doctor he said that he had strep throat so he was treated for that but the throat clearing never went away.
He was then sent to a "nose, throatand and ears doctor" who said he had a sinus infection, he was treated for it but it did'nt seem to help, the throat clearing seemed to be getting worse. He was then tested for allergies and it was found that he had only a very mild allergy to ragweed and it was so minor the doctor said it did not need to be treated.

This is the 2nd doctor we have seen
Please help!!

Hi,

How is he doing now?

Have you seen a pediatrician for his symptoms? What medications is he on currently?

Post us about what the doctor has advised and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.

Justin does have post nasal drip,(no coughs or weezing) maybe a little breathlessness,he will often clear his throat and spit out yellow mucas like substance. He was treated for a nasal virus but he still has this problem.
His allergy test showed an allergy to ragweed and mold.
I will try the steam inhalation, he is doing a nasal rinse every day.
Thanks for you help

Hi,

He could be having sinusitis or rhinitis. Does he have associated symptoms of cough, wheeze, breathlessness, post nasal drip etc?

You should try steam inhalation, saline nasal drops and oral antihistamine medications for his complaints and see if it helps with his symptoms.

You should see his doctor and get a clinical examination for a diagnosis and to evaluate if any investigations are required including blood tests, chest xray and CT scan of the sinuses.

Is he allergic to any specific substances or has he had allergic reactions in the past?

Let us now about how he is doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
