My Ears

I just recently had Laryngitis, and now my ears feel as if they have lost pressure, i can hear ok, I know that if you close your mouth and plug who your nose and push, the ears will "pop" well there not doing that, they pop on there own soon enough, but is there any need for ear tubes, because I had many ear infections when I was younger, and the Docs placed tubes in my ears to regain pressure, is there any need for that now, my ears dont hurt, im just asking is there a need too?

Hello,

Popping sound in the ear indicates there is blockage of the Eustachian tube.It is a membrane lined tube that connects the middle ear space to the back of the nose. Its main purpose is to check the ear pressure changes in the middle ear.

Are you having any cold, allergies, sinusitis, ear pain or post nasal drip? All these can lead to Eustachian tube blockage.

Try chewing gum the next time it happens or doing valsalva maneuver (Done by taking a deep breath and blowing while pinching your nostrils and closing your mouth). If still the symptoms persist then pls consult anent surgeon and get the above stated possibilities ruled out.Treatment will depend on the diagnosis.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts
