My nose smells like puke

For the past few weeks I've been coughing and it's been harder to breathe. I have allergies, so my nose is stuffed up most of the time. Now, when I blow my nose, it smells like barf. I also smoke.

Hi, strange or bad smell can be seen in certain conditions and it is termed as Parosmia (abhorrent odor perception). It is usually associated with rhinosinusitis, head trauma, viral infection, or oral problems. It frequently disappears with successful treatment of the above mentioned conditions.

The type of cough in your case suggests cough dominant asthma. This may be seen in association with the factors like cold air, sleep, or allergens. The other causes needed to be ruled out are concomitant rhinosinusitis. If there is presence of sputum with cough then we can suspect the infection.

You need to undergo certain tests like allergen test, spirometry, and serological test for suspected bacteria. Treatment includes cough suppressants, a trial therapy with bronchodilators, avoiding triggering factors. Nasal saline irrigation and nasal corticosteroids may bring relief from such smell.
