Negative Ions

Has anyone ever heard of someone being allergic to negative ions? A few years ago we bought a couple of those air purifiers which put out negative ions in order to reduce orders and allergens in the air. My son became very sick with flu like symptoms. We got rid of the air purifiers and he seems to be doing lots better, We recently changed most all incandescent light bulbs in our house to CFL light bulbs. I recently became aware that those type bulbs give off negative ions at a much higher level than regular bulbs. My wife has been sick for months with sinus, bronchitis and pneumonia. I am beginning to think negative ion emission may be a factor.

After using anion sanitary napkins, which emit negative ions , as it has some anion chip in it , i myself developed allergic rhinitis, a type of asthma. I am also wondering if negative ions are responsible ?

Thanks for writing to the forum!
Generally negative ions are used to combat allergy and asthma. Humidifiers generally cause allergic bronchitis and asthma like symptoms due to molds. Dampness in the house and walls and humidity all can cause more of molds and pollens and thus allergic cough, bronchitis etc. Negative ions are usually used to bring about positive vibes, freshness etc. Hence I would suggest you look for other allergens around you like pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, aerosol cosmetics, perfumes or drugs.

CFL bulbs are terrible. They gave me skin problems, whereas before I was always quite healthy and had no health problems whatsoever.
