Persistent dry cough

I have had a persistent dry cough for 3 months now, and phlegm - its not all the time mostly during night time.
When I was younger I had asthmatic rash, but I have never had a problem with hayfever. I am allergic to dust though, I seem to break out in a rash
My doctor says I have rhinitis, i've taken Zyrtec, antibiotics, phlegm dissolvers and I still ahve this cough.

Any idea what it is?

Hi,

Has a chest xray, CT scan of your sinuses and lung function testing been done?

What is your age?

It is important that you consult a pulmonologist orr chest specialist at the earliest for a proper clinical evaluation and confirmed diagnosis.

You should need inhaler medications and nasal sprays and a course of antibiotics probably.

Is there any family history of allergies?

Let us know what your doctor advises and also if you have any other doubts.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Do you have asthma?

Rhinitis is more like a sinus infection... so i can see why zyrtec wouldn't work for that.

You could try googling "watercure" and "asthma" or "watercure" and "cough"

or these 2 sites.. www.watercure.com or www.watercure.org. i have had the same dry cough, sometimes with phlegm and this has helped me a lot with it.. i also have asthma and it helped with that too. when i get the cough i take a large glass of water with 1/2 tsp of salt and it breaks up the mucous and stops the cough. Very good site though I would defiately check it out.
