Pet Allergy

by Sleno, Feb 18, 2008 08:00PM
I have 3 dogs of the same breed (italian greyhound), all male, ages 8 years, 6 years, and 9 months. I have many allergies including dog, but these dogs are low allergy, and I have never had a problem with them before. Until we got the youngest of the three. We got him back in July when he was just over 2 months. I noticed after just a few days I get hives from him they come fast (takes about 5-10 minutes for every bit of exposes skin to be covered, red, and itchy, almost burn) and go away in less than an hour, as long as I don’t hold him. I know it is my dog allergy and I am getting anti itch cremes and anti-histamines to relive my symptoms.

My question is, how can the one dog cause hives, when two others, of the same breed, do not? As well as friends dogs that do not cause any hives.

Hi,

Allergies cannot be defined accurately, neither the exact cause and reason be determined. Ever dog or animal has different proteins and so one of them could be allergic to you and the other not.

You need to consult ana llergy specialist and also try calamine lotion at the allergy sites.

Let us know if you have any more doubts and also keep us posted on how you are doing

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
