Prednison weight gain and other side effects

Hi,
I've been diagnosed with a children's form of M.S and my doctor has put me on 80mg of Prednison a day. My face has gotten really round and i've gained alot of weight. Also my face has broken out really bad and my hair is falling out and getting very thin. I still have about 3 months of Prednison left to tamper down, so my questions are;
Are these normal side effects of Prednison?
Can i do anything to stop the face swelling?
Should i expect any more side effects to come?

Hi there!

1. Yes, these are regular side effects of steroids.
2. You could restrict (reduce) salt and fluid intake to reduce these side effects.
3. If you have been using the medications for sometime and these are the only side effects, the possibility of other side effects is hot high; though the possibility cannot be excluded.

I was put on Prednisone due to my severe allergies, and I had a problem with weight gain as well, not severe, but enough for me to notice. But as the poster before me said, I changed my diet to especially my sodium intake and I'm now back to my normal weight. So, there is hope! :)
