Problems with Spanx bras

Anyone else had a problem with SPANX bras?  I paid $72 each for them, and the ink on the tagless tag has caused a horrible rash.  And, I NEVER have rashes!  No surpise that the tag says made in China!

Has anyone had a problem with bra causing nerve problems in the shoulder, back and arm pain with the spanx bra-llujah? I have developed a horrific pain with my brachial nerve in my back and shoulder. I could not figure out what I had done and just thought it may be the bra.

Yes, problem still exists today.  I previously had the problem with Spanx bralleluja  in Feb 2009 and Spanx representative Katelyn Williams  told me "We have confirmed with the manufacturer of our heat  transfer that the product has been tested and certified for  no harmful ingredients and for safe use against the skin.
We have also confirmed that the heat transfer does not  contain any type of metal (including lead), Latex or PVC. "
I stopped wearing the bras until recently when I found them with the good old fashioned sewn in label. But, when I bought 4 lately, I somehow without noticing got one with iron on label and accidently wore it without looking -- the rash appeared!  It turns into a burn really and is awful!
Shame on Spanx for not recalling!  They should check for for formaldehyde.  My doctor gave me oral steriods and says it is a rare rash but he has seen it more lately.

It is now October 2011 and I am getting the same run-around from Spanx after using their bra-llelujah. This is ridiculous, we need to do something. They keep claiming it is the first time they hear about anybody having a severe rash due to their product. Has anybody talked to a lawyer?

I have the same rash from my Spanx (& it is 2011)  This is ridiculous!

I have contacted the company & plan to save this thread (in case they still say it is a new problem!)

Its now August of 2010 - and I just developed a horrible rash from the Spanx bra, in the tagless area. Black Bra-llelujah! When I did a search, this came up. I am sickened that this has been possibly going on for a couple years. Spanx has yet to respond to me.

A few years back, I purchased a bunch of Jockey underwear and bras from Bare Essestials.  I developed horrible raised rashes and finally realized they were the result of the tagless ink on the bras and underwear.  Jockey took them all back and sent me a refund.  I have avoided any problems until this week.  I was wearing a tagless Old Navy cami and developed the same awful rash again!  When are they going to get rid of this terrible ink?

I too had a rash that resulted from the imprinted tag in the Spanx bra.  I have been suffering with this itchy, burning, bumpy rash just on the left side of my back for 2 weeks - the side the "tag" is on.  Today it spread to my face!!  My doctor said it is an allergic reaction to something.  I got an injection, which helped with the itching, but didn't take it away.  I only just figured out the rash by the process of elimination - what was different or new in my "routine".  The only new thing was my bra - and when I googled the spanx bra - this page came up.  So thank you for the great info.  Now that I haven't worn the bra today, the rash is less itchy and irritated.  I called Spanx this evening and they said "they have NEVER had any complaints about a rash from any of their bras before".  I am so irritated with this company for lying.  I am after a full refund!!

Hello,

I had the same problem with a tag less bra made in China.  I purchased it from a Target retail store.  I got hives and scaring from it.  I also had my doctor looked at it.  She confirmed it was an allergic reaction. I also noticed Victoria Secret is having problems with their bras too.  I wonder if this is the same materials used for the bras is at the same factory in China?  The retailer stores buy it and place different name brands on them?  For example, Old Navy and Gap Inc. are really the same company, just different name brands.

I had the exact same rash, quite a bad one, which I had never had before, I had to go to a dermatologist for a high dose of steroid.  Anyway, I absolutely love love love the bra, and I bought a total of 2 nude and 2 black, I noticed that 1 of the black and 2 of the nude has different style 'tagless' ink on them, which I am NOT allergic to.  The one I am allergic to is the other black one which have the puffy white looking 'tagless' ink on them and the other doesn't.  I know right away because my rash came almost within hours of wearing the bad one.  For those of you who love the bra, you can find the one which have the better ink on them.  I wish I can post a picture of the difference.

I am so glad I found this discussion.  I bought my first spanx bralleluja on 4/13 and have a crazy rash right under the label.  I called the company and they are sending a fedex bag to send it back and they will refund my money.  I asked where I could send an official complaint and it is to this address:

Spanx
Special Returns Dept.
303 Scarlet St. Ste. 25
Brunswick, GA  31520

YES!! At first I thought it could be shingles. Then realized it was exactly where the ink on the tag was. I sent a message to Spanx via their "contact us" on their website and received a call from a Spanx employee the following day who told me that they had not received any complaints of this nature. She offered to refund my money but I really LOVE this bra and thought that if it was the ink on the bra causing the rash I could possibly remove that layer that has the print on it and replace it with a comfortable patch. (thats how much i love this bra!!) I told her that I would go without wearing it for a week and see if the rash cleared up and then try wearing it again to test it. She said to follow up and  let them know if I decided that I wanted my refund. So...I decided to do a little investigating of my own and found this medhelp site. I am shocked that such a reputable company would lie to it's consumers and not fix the issue by taking the rash causing ingredient out of the ink. It seems as if it could be easily fixed. I am taking pics of my rash and sending them to Spanx so that they can have one more record of the rash that they claim they don't know exsists! I imagine that Oprah would not back a company if they had lied to HER!! It is wrong on many levels and I am disappointed in their ethics!!

I also have the same problem. I quit wearing the bra and the rash gets better. When a start wearing it again the rash gets worse. I think we should know what is causing this rash.

No way! I have been trying to figure out what this rash was from and just decided to do a search for "rash spanx bra" and I can't believe all of the results. My rash totally started in exactly the shape of the printed tag on my "brallelujah" (yeah, not so much) and in the exact spot where it touched my back. I stopped wearing it for a week or so and when the rash didn't go away, I thought maybe it was pregnancy related (I'm 4 months pregnant). So, I wore it again the other day and the rash got worse!
I just called Spanx and they said that they are aware of the problem and they are refunding my money, but I would have expected them to be more apologetic!
This is gross! What's in that ink??!! Frankly, I'm a little freaked out about what's in it and just really hope it isn't anything harmful for the baby!

Another useful cream to try for skin rashes is Benadryl cream.  There are generics that are less expensive.  The generic drug name of Benadryl is Diphenhydramine.

The SPANX company told me the same thing.  And yes, they have definitely had complaints.  The wanted to just send me the money for the bras.  They said no one else had complained.

Hydocortisone cream also helped me, though it did not "cure" it.  The rash started in September when I bought the bras and hasn't 100% totally gone away now, though it is about 99% gone.  This was an angry, red rash like none other I've ever had.

I had this same problem. It happened right before my vacation - and really put a damper on things. I couldn't wear any sort of a bra while I had the rash (3 weeks and counting) - very embarassing. The rash was itchy, painful, and quite large. I think I'm going to contact a lawyer. Their product caused a medical complication! This may be grounds for a recall.

Hydrocortisone cream has helped me....my Spanx rash is finally starting to fade after 3 weeks.

They also told me they had no record of previous complaints - my incident happened well after all of yours. I'm not sure Spanx is telling the truth here.

I, too, have a terrible rash from my new Spanx Bra-llelujah! Bra. I called Spanx and the woman who I spoke with said that they haven't had any compaints (this was last week). She said that I could get my money back, but they would give me a new item.
My rash is exactly under the tag and is beginning to spread around the area more. I can't wear it any more; I want my money back and would like to know if there's a treatment for the rash (other than not wearing the bra) any ideas?

That is exactly how mine was...the rash matched the size of the tagless tag, which on the SPANX bras is rather large.  Almost word per word it matched my rash.

My wife bought the bra 3 weeks ago. The rash matches the area where the print touches the skin. Very disturbing. We should all contact the manufacturer.
