Random Lip Allergy or Reoccurring Infection?

For about two months now ive had this spot on my top lip that seems to be a little discolored and the skin seems different then the rest of my lip. Randomly it turns bright red and tingles.. Most of the time when i eat it will, sometimes when I drink, sometimes just completely out of no where it turns red. (spicy food and toothpaste for sure irritate it). I was believing it to be an allergic reaction to my lip balms because i was an addict ( now cold turkey ) but it has not gotten any better! For a few days it seemed to be cooling down and not getting as red but today after work i get home and drink a glass of water and BOOM. Full blown red and tingles. I am a healthy person. I DO get cold sores and properly treat them and they go away in a week (always). This is NOT a cold sore I know this for a fact. I am wondering if it is some sort of reoccurring infection or allergy that i cant pin point. I dont know if these are other symptoms im getting or just coincidental but my bottom lip gets EXTREMELY chapped and turns white when i drink (the dead skin i guess). My face has very dry spots on it that flake and turn a little red sometimes.

I wake up in the morning and its at its best. about a 1 out of 10 on how bad it is. then usually between 4 10pm it begins to have a fit and get red. I go to sleep every night usually its at its worst.

this is a picture of my lips. this is about a 3 out of 10 on a scale of how red my top lip spot gets and how chapped my bottom lip gets. so imagine how red it gets when its a 10 : (.
This condition is destroying my social life and killing my confidence. Please. I need assistance.

I have something similar to your problem.Mine is redder and just the bottom lip. I read that could be vitamin B2 THAT I NEED but haven't tried it yet.

I'm online looking for possible connection between facial "bumps" and 5-hour Energy.  I take 5-hour in a.m. to get up, usually 1/2 to 3/4 bottle.  My skin is also at it's best in a.m.  By about 4 p.m., I have those under skin bumps that are not zits.  There are about 4 or 5 of them on one side of face along hairline.  They go down by a.m. and back up by p.m.  May switch to another caffeine product to see if difference, but was hoping to see something online, too.  Good luck with lips.

First off Thank You for taking the time to respond to me.

ill start by saying I do in fact have oral herpes and have had it since i was 4 (if not earlier). I am used to dealing with cold sores and know their behaviors on my mouth.
This acts VERY different. It will get better and worse in a matter of hours (sometimes minutes), and then get worse and better in the next hour. A cold sore is persistent and will progressively get worse or progressively get better ( this is how it ALWAYS has affected me. is it possible they started acting different and this is a lingering cold sore for multiple months? im not sure)

_Long Shot Idea_
Im not sure of it being a vitamin B deficiency because I take "5 hour energy shots" like every other day. they have "500mcg b12 as cyanocobalamin".  Is it possibly that since ive been taking and EXCESSIVE amount of b12 in those shots that my body now requires me to have a lot more on a regular basis?

Vitamin C wise. I drink orange juice quite often but ill start making sure its alittle more regular.

Ill post information as I figure it out. Ive done a lot of research on the net and ive found quite a few people with the same problem and no solution as of yet. I hope that i am able to figure this out for all of our sakes.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
It is difficult to comment without examination, just based on a picture. However there is a chance that this is fever blister or oral herpes. Along with local applicants containing camphor/phenol, this need treatment with antiviral drugs. You should consult a skin specialist regarding this.
Vitamin B and Vitamin C deficiency too can cause similar symptoms. Contact dermatitis is another possibility, hence you must check the creams, toothpastes etc that come in contact with your lips.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

This is part of another post i made regarding this topic---

Ive used Lysine +, Abreva, Caramax, Blistex... NOTHING makes it better.
When i used to use abreva, lysine and the cold sore medication it would go away within a week. This DOES NOT. I am convinced it is not the reminance of a lingering cold sore but maybe the cold sore medication or chap stick damaged my lip?
