Rash when at the beach

Rash when at the beach

In the last couple of years I have seemed to develop an allergy. Every single time I am near or on a beach I develop a rash on my lips and around my mouth. I dont know if its the sand, salt water, or the salt in the air. What is the cause of this and what can i do to prevent it. I love the beach and now I cant go for a fear of developing this ugly rash

Hi, welcome to the forum. The person may be allergic to any thing. The common allergen may be in environment like dust, pollen, salt water etc., can be household environment like garments, pets, cosmetic products etc. Stinging insects, Aeroallergens (uncommon), Foods and additives like Milk, egg, peanuts, nuts, soy, and wheat are the most common agents to cause allergy.
Salt water seems to be a triggering factor which should be identified and should be avoided. A skin allergy test can be useful.
Treatment includes anti histaminic and glucocorticoids against prescription. Other causes needed to be ruled out are chigger bites, atopic dermatitis, generalized infection etc.
If you want to or interested go to beach then you can take oral anti histaminic one hour before going to the beach as a prophylactic measure.
I suggest you to consult a skin specialist. Take care and regards.
