Rashes on face and swelling under eyes after GYM workout

Hi,

Whenever i start workout in gym,i get rashes on my face n even swelling under my eyes. This problem occurs only after or during workout in gym.
I play a lot of outdoor sports which requires a lot of running but i never face such a problem during these kind of workouts.
I have tried changing the gym place also but that too din't worked for me.
Don't understand the reason of this allergy and why this occurs only after gym workouts.
Please help.

Thanks in advance

Hi, your history is suggestive of Exercise-induced urticaria. This can be induced whenever person exercises. Hence it is very important to rule out any of these exposures recently before the appearance of the whelps. The triggering factor should be identified and further exposure should be avoided. You may need to give up the gym. Otherwise prophylactic antihistamine (before exercise) against prescription may help.

Initial treatment includes start of second generation anti histamines, as it is not improving, in such cases doubling of the standard dose helps against prescription. Even H2 antihistamines can be considered. Adding steroids can be quite helpful to alleviate the inflammation. I suggest you to consult allergy specialist for evaluation. Take care and regards.
