Septoplasty Revision surgery

by longlive, Oct 08, 2006 12:00AM
What are the changes of a perforation on the Septum for doing a Septoplasty Revision for the 2nd time & it's consequences?
In addition to this, my doctor will do 3 other proceedures.
My surgery is scheduled for coming Friday & having a second thought about this 2nd nasal surgery.

If I could get feedback from patients who had a 2nd Septoplasty Revision that would be great too.

Thanks much for your response.

Hi, I just had Septoplasty Surgery two days aga.  Yesterday, the doctor removed the gauzes from my nose which hurt really bad. I'm also on some pain killers and antibiotics. Next week I have to go back to see the doctor so he can take out the splints from my nose. My question is: How long will it take for me to breathe better. I can barley breathe through my nose and was told that I cannot blow my nose for at leat two weeks.  I find it so uncomfortale and evertime I swallow my ears get clogged. Or when I drink something my nose makes funny noise because I feel like I need to blow it and get all the stuff out of my nose.  It actually feels like I have a sinus infection. And at night, I'm still sleeping with my mouth open becasue my nose is clogged.  I sleep with 3 pillows so my head is elevated. I'm also wearing the small mask that covers my nose which holds a square peice of a quaze so that the blood drains into the gauze. Also, I can taste the blood that drips into my mouth from my nose.  My husband also told me that he can smell the blood.

is this normal post septoplasty surgery?

Does everyone go through this?

When do I start breathing normal?

Please tell me what your post septoplasty surgery was like.

help!

Hi,
I just had the surgery 2 days ago.  Mine was pretty bad and I have to leave the splints in for 3 weeks.  I'm able to breath- I was told I could blow my nose ever so slightly and I"m using the "Ocean Spray" which helps a lot.  I've taken a warm shower and let the water run on my nose- that''s also helped to drain the sinus.

Hope this helps.
