Singulair & Accolate for allergies

I'm taking Singulair because nothing else has helped my allergies, and it has been wonderful!  However, I can save considerable money through my insurance plan with generic Accolate.  Will Accolate work as well as Singulair for allergies?  Thank you

Hi,  HMMM that is a good question.  Singulair and Accolate are both leukotrienne modifiers.  They should have a similar effect.  For me, Zyflo was MUCH more effective than Singulair, but you have to monitor live function when you are on it.  Accolate is an older leukotrienne modifier, so you will just have to do research to find out how it is works.  Singular binds with leukotriennes, and Zyflo reduces leukotrienne production.

I hope that helps some.

God bless.
