Sinus Infection: Is this a good sign

I was diagnosed with a sinus infection almost 2 weeks ago.  Tomorrow is my last day of antibiotics.  For the past two weeks I have had postnasal drainage in the back of my throat, resulting in a sore throat and a cough. While I've had these symptoms my nose hasn't been running and I haven't been sneezing.  Last night my nose started running really bad, I went through an entire box of tissues.  Today has been the same way.  Last night and most of the day today it has been clear mucus but first thing this morning it was really thick and yellow.  I have never had a sinus infection before so I'm not sure how they work.  Is this a good sign that it's been coming of my nose so heavily instead of slowly dripping down my throat.  Is it almost over or should I call the doctor tomorrow and let him know I still have sinus problems and swollen lymph nodes.

Well I talked to my doctor and he gave me a prescription for another antibiotic.  He said it was very strong and would probably mess with my stomach quite a bit.  I picked it up today but haven't taken it yet.  I'm kinda waiting to see how I feel tomorrow, because today I feel a lot better.  Yesterday I got a humidifier and it seemed to help me out.  I'm trying to see if it is just allergies because even when my nose was draining a lot I always had clear mucus and I still do today.  The pressure in my ears has gone away and my throat isn't bugging me as bad either.  I still have a little headache and my lymph nodes under my chin are going down a little.  I think it my have just been a combination of a cold and bad allergies.  Today one of my friends and my girlfriend started having the same symptoms I've been having, they aren't too happy with me.  I feel like I'm just really dry, my nose and throat.  So maybe it was a sinus infection and the ammoxicilin just took a while to work and maybe is still working.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Definitely your symptoms are still not under control. Sinusitis is often allergic and can be due to mold infection too. A damp wall in the house, carpets, and ACs are all potential sources of mold. Please consult an allergy specialist. You may need to take the allergy test.
The other possibility is deviated nasal septum. Nasal polyps and tumors, worms in stool causing high eosinophil counts, gastric reflux are the other causes.
The treatment will be complete only on removing the cause. Hence please consult an ENT specialist (you must already be under one) and discuss these possibilities. Depending on the cause treatment will be prescribed.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
