Sinuses or TMJ or ???

by Pat41058, May 11, 2009 01:30PM
I started having pain in my jaw area and just in front of my right ear (feel like ear ache) about 2 weeks ago.  The pain does not seem to have any pattern.  There has also pain tingling pain in my teeth on the right side.  Sometimes it is the top teeth and sometimes the bottom.  Now I am having problems with my throat also.  I feel like someone is holding tight on the right side of my throat.  I have no idea what it is.  It does seem  to help when I hold cold water on that side of my mouth.  the doctor gave me 80-0mg Ibuprofen but that really doesn't help much.  The important thing right now is that I make sure it is not some type of infection, as my 15 year old niece who has cancer is coming to stay with me so I can take care of her.  I'm afraid of giving her something.  I think it could probably TMJ because of the stress but I didn't think that affected the throat.  Any thoughts, advise?????

I have TMJ - your symptoms sound alot like a mild case of TMJ.  Your best bet is to go to your dentist and have xrays taken so that he/she can rule out any infection.  I wish you luck, if it is TMJ it's very hard to get rid of....keep us posted!

Hello,
The symptoms sound more like TMJ symptoms. It is an acute or chronic inflammation of the temporomandibular joint.

Apply warm compresses on the joint, take some anti inflammatory pain killer like Diclofenac or Ibuprofen and consult a dentist for the confirmation of diagnosis and specific treatment.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
