Sinusitis? Can't carry on like this.....

by gemmaj3, Oct 29, 2009 02:23PM
I have been to my doctor many times about this as it is starting to effect my life big time but he always sends me away saying it's nothing to worry about.....

About a year ago I started with an irritating dry cough. I had recently had a very bad cold and thought it was just a follow on from that. But it's never gone away! This has now developed and these are my daily symptoms which drive me crazy:

* Constant feeling that mucus is at the back of my nose/throat
* Coughing to 'clear' the bunged up feeling but sometimes get clear white mucus, sometimes nothing
* Feeling achey (achy) and very tired
* Wet, burning pain kind of feeling on left side of my head
* Heavy, achey (achy) feeling in chest as if someone is sat on it and sometimes shortness of breath
* Mild headaches
* Achey (achy) ribs
* Sometimes 'numb' kind of feeling in my face as if I'm full of cold
* Ear ache in both ears (but more in my left ear) which has recently started

I started my job about a year ago too, it's an office like my previous job was, although the conditions are a little poor. Little ventilation in the office and people fighting over having the heaters on and the window open! But I seem to have these problems at home at night too so I don't think I can really blame my work.

This is really starting to get me down :-(  People have commented on my coughing alot and I'm sick of hearing myself moan about how I'm always feeling. Can anyone suggest anything at all?

Thanks to anyone who can respond.

If defintely sounds like sinutitis.  You need to find a different doctor.  If you are only partially congested (still breathe out of each nostril individually) you can try using a nasal rinse (ask a pharmactis at walmart or safeway or something like that), which will help clear some of the mucous out.

You should also look into acid reflux (even without heartburn symptoms) because that also can cause a cough.

Hope that helps
