Skin allergy or mite bite?

YSL
I can't tell at all if this is an allergic reaction to something I touched or something like dust mite is doing this to my skin all over my body. As far as I know, I'm only allergic to alcohol (itchy sking) and heavy dust (nose and eyes), and this started only yesterday after I took a nap on that old couch in the living room, which has almost never gave me problems except on 2 occasions (nose and eyes). Now I got red, itchy bumps all over my body, especially on the limbs, which kind of come and goes, and come and goes. It's getting in the way of sleep.

Hi,

Its good to know that you disposed that sofa which was the cause of your allergies. It may be beneficial to find out if there are any other such items in your surroundings.

It may be difficult to ascertain if the allergy will return or not. It is widely believed that allergies are due to immune reponses to substances which normally do not induce any reactions. Such events may not be completely predictable. However, a certain degree of understanding can be achieved.

Hope this helped you and let us know if you need any more help.

All the best

Um....it vanished over night, before I could get to the doctor, again. It hasn't come back yet today at all. Will it come back again? By the way, we got rid of that sofa, which has been the cause of many of my allergy break out before.

Hi,

Yes, you need to see your doctor right away.

Till you get to your doctor you could take some oral antihistamine/ antiallergic medications like loratadine or cetrizine and see if it helps.

Let us know about what your doctor says.

Also, post us about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.

...it is 11:21pm of the same day, and the bumps seem to be making a come back, starting from my fore arms, again, as that is where they first turned up. Definitely doctor tomorrow.

This morning the itchy red bumps gave their last efforts to annoy me, then disappeared completely, while I was walking to the doctor... . In the end I decided to not see the doctor without something for her to cure, because, again, of the fee. If it ever comes back, however, I'll know to see the doctor right away to save myself this torment.

I have not seen a doctor yet, for a couple of reasons. After my last post, I started taking Benadryl. It works it's 6-hour effectiveness period, and the itchy red bumps came and went, came and went.

On the second day, I didn't take Benadryl until before sleep, and the bumps were still coming and going regardless.

Today is the third day, and the only red marks visible are on my right fore arm, and behind my knees. These are not bumps nor are they itchy ..... yet. Maybe taking Benadryl earlier today will put an end to them? I put off doctor so far because I haven't medical insurance, and I'm afraid it'll cost a lot.

Hi,

Did you take any medications or did the lesions resolve by themselves?

It would still be best to consult your doctor.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.

Hi,

Thank you for replying! It started yesterday alright, and lasted through the night while keeping me up until 7am... . The weird thing is, after I finally fell asleep and wake up again, the bumps seem to have gone into hiding, leaving only a few area with faint little red dots. I still have that picture above for proof to the doctor though...

Hi,

This could be an allergic recation, an insect bit or a skin lesion. You would need to consult your doctor or skin specialist to find out the cause and management.

You should take some oral antihistamine or antiallergic medications and see if it helps in your case. Apply calamine lotion to help soothe the itching. Do not apply any other creams or products , till you consult your doctor.

Also, keep the area clean.

Let us know if you have any other doubts and also post us about how you are doing.

Regards.
