Sounds and pain inside my ear

Last night I started hearing sounds like paper crumpling inside my ear channal when I put my ear plug in to my right ear. I heard the same thing when I dried my ear with a towel this morning. Last night I also could not keep the ear plug in because when I laid my head down on the pillow on that side the increased pressure caused a lot of pain. I took the plug out.

I normally sleep with ear plugs to block noise that keeps me from sleeping. I also have allergies but lately they've been very light, not causing enough congestion to keep me from using my CPAP most nights. That's the other thing I use. Are these things: CPAPs and ear plugs not OK to use together? I've been using ear plugs every night for the last five years and the CPAP therapy just started this March.

I can hear just fine, by the way. It's not like I have any hearing problems now since my ear's been making those sounds when moving the ear channal. I'm wondering if I should be worried anyway -- if something is wrong. Thank you.

my problems began the same as yours after starting the use of a cpap machine . like you hearing sounds like paper crumpling inside my ear channal. i was told the cannel to the ear from the mouth ahas had water forced inbehind the ear drum causing the sound . the pressure of the machine hurt my ears . in a short time i had fluid coming from my ears and they became pluged (plugged) , soon infections set in to the cannel and i had to take a lot of medications ,. doctor ordered me to stop using the machine and now confermed the ear drum has become preforated, still waiting to see a ear nose throat specialist. it is scary if you google damage caused by cpap. wished i had never seen one i want my hearing back.
