Sudden increase of pressure in my head

Sudden increase of pressure in my head

Caucasian male, 20yrs old, have been routinely studying for 3 months now by going to the library on daily basis. I have had 2 bacterial infections in the past 6 months and apparently I have bad allergies so I take a pill 120mg dose of mucinex every 12 hours instead of an allegra 180 mg dose every 24 hours and I started feeling much better after switching to mucinex. The problem with mucinex is that I feel like my brain is getting "cleaned out when I take it". Of course that is not happening in reality. There is probably some piece of crap still in my sinuses somewhere. I really don't know but that's the feeling I have. I had a terrible asthma like cough for 5 months which recently went away after switching to mucinex. My doctor thought I had asthma which I know I didn't but we still took x-rays, breath test, and of course no asthma. I feel like I am not getting anywhere by seeing my doctor or other doctors. I am really healthy for the most part. Over the past 3 months I lost around 15-20 pounds but that's due to eating less and not training. I was 185 pounds, 5'10", 11% body fat and now around 165-167 pounds. I tend to lose weight easily but it is hard for me to gain lean muscle mass. Also I have trouble controlling my blood sugar levels, I have told my doctor about it multiple times, If I skip a meal I really feel terrible. If I don't eat carbs I feel like throwing up. I think that this is normal? but he did take a blood test I don't think it was that accurate as I didn't fast for 12 hours and wasn't hungry when it was taken. The blood test showed I was normal. Finally the reason I decided to post on here is because My head hurts! It hurt a lot yesterday after holding my hunger as long as possible to study more. I did eat but I did that 3 times. The first two times I ate afterwards and felt fine. The third time I held my hunger I had no food with me and I was in the library studying and that is when my headache really took off. I got home and ate some carbs. I felt better so I took a shower and went to sleep. My headache woke me up after 7 hours of sleep at 6:30 a.m. Here is the thing idk if it is just a bad headache or pressure. I think it is both? Idk if this is important but I have a heart murmur and my doctor said that is a "safe" one. After quitting caffeine all my chest pain has gone for the most part.

I have my entrance exam in 2 weeks and I don't have time to go see a doctor to deal with this. Plus they don't help anyways. Ironic how I'm studying to be someone that continuously frustrates me. What should I do?! help me please!

Hello and understand your predicament.

As explained by you, the headaches are initiated by hypoglycemia. Inadequate eating can cause hypoglycemia and the resultant headache. Similarly lack of sleep can also aggravate headaches. I hope any visual defects have been ruled out. Your headaches can also be tension headaches, the commonest of the lot; this could be due to the stress of your exams. The others are migrainous headaches, those caused due to brain disorders, disorders of the eyes , neck or ears to name a few. Cure could be by working to rule out the causes for your headaches.

In the meantime, if you eat a well balanced diet, exercise moderately and lead a stress free life this can reduce the occurrence of headaches. Though easier said than done, it needs to practiced long term.

Take Care and Hope this helps!
