Suggestions for Unknown Allergies

Hello,
I have have severe allergies for about 16 years. It has caused me to have asthma. I am currently taking otc antihistime, nasonex, xolair shots, singulair, albuterol,&advair. I have been given allergy tests, both skin & blood tests. Nothing major showed up on either, except that my ige level was 475.My doctor can not figure out what I am allergic to. EVERY morning when I wake up, I start sneezing, stuffing up and runny nose until about 12 or 1 in the afternoon. Then I am usually still stuffy on and off the rest of the day. I am miserable. I am wondering if I have a metal allergy. When I was 4 I got very sick and the drs. told my mom that I was allergic to the aluminum christmas tree that we had put up. She took it out and I was fine. Is there a test to check for metal allergies? Any other ideas of what I can do?
Thanks for your time,
Tammy

Metal allergy is certainly one option.

Also, you should consider unique things in your home that wouldn't be part of a local allergy test battery.  I was having severe allergy issues one year with 5 severe sinus infections in less than 9 months.  I was referred for allergy testing that showed that I wasn't allergic to anything except mildly to dogs and dust.  My husband and I did some thinking about what had changed just prior to when my infections began.  A friend is an HVAC contractor and had convinced my husband that the new, high tech and best air filter for our system was a hog hair filter.  We replaced the filter and my infections stopped.  About a year later I worked near a hog farm.  Whenever the wind was from that direction I would be miserable.  Conclusion, I am highly allergic to pigs.  There would have been no reason for the test battery to include them though.

Unless you have a new matress and box springs (<5 years) you may want to consider getting a new set.  There could be something in there causing your problems as well.

Have you considered food allergies?  Wheat, glutten, milk and soy allergies are all known for upper respiratory reactions, as well as other food allergy symptoms including hives.

So you should consider any unique situations in your home - pets, house plants, foods, ect.  Also, be sure to check for any source of mold in your home.  This can be tricky.  You may want to bring in a mold speicalist to see if they can find any.  Potting soil is a place where mold grows.  While plants are necessary for good indoor air quality, you want to make sure that their soil is not moldy.

I hope that helps you some.
Feel better and God bless.
