Swollen Lymph Nodes, Allergies

Hi, I have 2 lymph nodes always up on the right side of my throat aswell as one in the right side of my neck. The one in my neck has been up since Feb 2010. Along with that i have a slightly swollen left tonsil but i've had 3 doctors tell me that its nothing to worry about.
I suffer from allergies and ALWAYS have a runny nose, even in Summer. I think i may have post nasal drip aswell.
I was just wondering is it normal for my lymph nodes to be up all the time because of my allergies? Right now i've noticed they're a bit more swollen than usual because of a throat infection. I'm just really scared right now if i have cancer or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In my twins, allergies do make them have runny noses, sore throats, and sore lymph nodes.  The lymph nodes will be sore and swollen during an infection, it is what they are there for.  They help you fight infection.  Have a doctor check your throat to see if you need antibiotics, he can check your lymph nodes at the same time.

Lymph are protective mechanisms of the body and they 'trap' the infecting source causing enlargement of lymph nodes. The infection can be from the draining skin or the organs. The other causes for enlarged nodes are tumors or inflammations to name a few. If their size is not decreasing or if they are increasing, then either the antibiotic is not working, or the source of infection may need to be identified and a new antibiotic may be started or other causes for enlarged nodes namely tumors or inflammations need to be considered.
