Ticklish Throat cough

I have COPD and am on oxygen. I get a catch deep in my throat that starts me coughing. If I cough hard enough I sometimes black out for a few seconds. Is there anything I can do to eliminate the catch that starts me coughing?

Hi, COPD is a chronic disorder, there is airflow limitation is usually progressive and associated with an abnormal inflammatory response of the lungs to noxious particles or gases.

This airflow limitation that is not fully reversible. It is preventable, if proper care is taken. Drinking lot of fluids, sucking lozenges, gargle with salt water, breathing moist air to soothe throat will also help. You can go for centrally acting cough suppressants, mucolytics and steam inhalation after consultation from physician, as well as appropriate therapy. Mucoactive agents like N-acetylcysteine against prescription can also help in relieving the symptoms. Take care and regards.
