Uticaria

Uticaria

I have been breaking out in huge patches of itchy roaring red skin. Its driving me insane at this stage, ive spent a fortune in doctors bills and they cant seem to tell me anything!! Im now being told that I could have this for life, and I just have to put up with it!! I feel like tearing my skin off to stop the itching! Ive used eurax to keep it at bay, and have to take an antihistamine everyday now in the hope that it will help it!! I cant put up with this much longer, surely they can pinpoint it to something?!?!?

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!

Such outbreaks are generally viral or allergic in nature. Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Fungal infections too mimic these type of bumps.  Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Since you experienced an itch, just go over these possibilities in your mind. Something may strike you. In many cases, hives clear up themselves and don’t require diagnosis or treatment. However if they persists you may need to see a specialist called an allergist to determine what is causing the reaction.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
