What can cause groin irration?

For the last few months I have been bothered by tiredness, sinus conjestion, and groin issues.  At times there has been this itchiness between my scrotum and my thighs.  I have however put on some weight.  Roughly 20 pounds.  I am hesitent to go to the doctor as I hate going.  I know I should go but I am trying to figure my own problems out.

So with the itching there does seem to be some sweating but not nothing highly noticeable.  Just feels that way.  My urine seems fine, but does smell once in awhile.  Lack of water I guess.  Aside from my groin itching, my scalp does itch at times as well.

I do have 2 cats that shed a lot.  Could my groin and scalp itching be an allergy thing?  If so what can I do about it?  Thanks.....

The symptoms are suggestive of Jock itch. Jock itch shows up in post-adolescent men and hormonal changes during puberty,lifestyle and heredity each play a role.Predisposing fungal disease like tines cruris may also aggravate it.

Wash your groin daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying,not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins.The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply.Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day. and do not share other people’s towels.Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment.

If the symptoms still persist then it has to be differentiated from contact dermatitis,yeast infections,eczema and allergies to cat allergens.
