Which Alcohol caused my hives?

Hi guys!

So on my birthday, we got some tiramisu (my mom said it tastes good, so we got some) and cake from a supermarket. So i ate the cake and tried some tiramisu for the first time and overnight, i broke out in hives. I'm pretty sure that it wasnt the cake since it was the same cake that i've eaten for past birthdays (and it was from the same store). Unfortunately, the tiramisu box didnt list the ingredients so i researched online a bit but i still didnt get my answer only that it's probably the alcohol. From the internet, i got that it could be rum, brandy, marsala, or amaretto.

So can anybody help me find which caused my hives?

Understand your predicament. But it is difficult to pinpoint the allergen. But if repeated episodes have occurred with consumption of the same food, then it could indicate an allergic reaction. Allergic reactions are mediated by IgE antibodies, which are released on exposure to a particular allergen. These in turn activate mast cells and lead to a local response or systemic anaphylaxis. It may help to maintain a food dairy and keep monitoring your symptoms. This will help to narrow the search and avoid them. Alternatively an allergy specialist may try to identify the offending allergen and try to desensitize you.
